General Guidelines:
•Have one Coast Guard approved life preserver on the boat for every boater.
•One’s life jacket should be appropriate for their height and weight.
•It is a good idea to have a PFD with a waterproof whistle attached.
Safety:
•Always check the buoyancy of a PFD before going out into deep water.
•The common life jackets, type III’s, are intended for recreation and will keep a conscious person afloat.

When a Man Goes Overboard…
always yell, “MAN OVERBOARD”
never stop looking at the victim
shout to him, throw to him, point to him
If You Loose Sight of Him…
start a systematic search back
Always Remember…
use your head, don’t be a hero
Man Overboard: I Know Where Man Overboard: I Know Where He IsHe Is
Man Overboard: I DON’T Know Where Man Overboard: I DON’T Know Where He IsHe Is
Carefully wind back along the path you came from until you find where the
victim is.
