In September, Dad went to London to speak at a conference. In October, he and Ben went to Minneapolis to see Ken Burns. Mr. Burns talked about his new documentary, The War. To the surprise of everyone in town, the Colorado Rockies brought the World Series to Denver. Dad had great seats to Game 4.

October, 2007This Halloween we went trick- or-treating around our neighborhood. Hannah, Ben and Emily dressed up. Hannah was Tinker Bell, Ben was Harry Potter, and Emily who was a girl going to a masquerade ball.

Earlier in the day we encountered an elk which we named Spooky. He came to our door and took Emily’s jack-o-lantern. He ripped it apart and left nothing but the stem.

He came back later...

Halloween ContinuedWhen Spooky came back it was very late. Mom fell asleep on the couch that night and woke up suddenly to a pounding on the door and she was afraid because she thought it was a person trying to break in. Once Dad came down stairs he figured out that it was just Spooky the elk. Mom still was afraid but everybody thought that the story was hilarious. That was the big hit of the holiday.
