Many lament: "I thought God was supposed to protect me?"
Many leaders say that the battle is the Lord's and that our job
is to rest and trust
We mustconsider
Old Testament scriptures this side of the Cross
The Holy Spirit dwells in us and not merely rests upon believers
The church has been given power and authority over the demonic realm
Consider 2 Chronicles 20:1-29
An alliance of enemies has invaded Judah
The king, Jehosophat, prays to the Lord
The Lord responds through His prophet Jahaziel
... Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's
The people of Judah had a job to do also
They went out, met their enemy and watched
Jesus, in Luke 22:35-38, encouraged his disciples to have a
sword to do battle
If necessary, they were sell their cloak and buy one
We have much more weaponry at our disposal
today
1. Perspective
is everything. Our struggle is not against
flesh and blood
2. We have thearmor of God to
resist the devil's
schemes
3. We have
authority to drive out, bind and resist demons
Consider the number of
verses in the NT
compared to one
scripture about the
battle being the Lord's
God is for us, works behind the scenes and does battle on our behalf
We have a role to play also
Too many believers do
not understand
or believe the reality of spiritual warfare
They sit back and do nothing and wait on the Lord only
They get angry at Him when He seems to have abandoned them to calamity
We are called to battle, rest in Him and have peace during the storms and trials
