Who Likes Change?

• We Like it when:– We initiate it– It’s to our advantage– Things are too bad

• For God change is about the internal not the external

Change Happens

• When it is forced on us

• When we seek it in response to God

• When we are looking for an escape

God Uses Change

• When it is forced on you God uses it to build trust in Him

• When you seek it God uses it to give you a fresh start

• When it is a means of escape God will use it to teach you change is internal first.

Luke 5:37-39 NASB

"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. 38 "But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 "And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'"

New• New Wine = Neos; New in Time or Age

• New Wineskin = Kainos; New in Kind or Type

• No new in time thing can be put in old in kind thing

• The Holy Spirit is new in time not new in kind

New

• Kainos: 2Co 5:17 NASB Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

• Neos: Col 3:10 NASB and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him--

Joh 20:11-18 NLT Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. 12 She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. 13 "Dear woman, why are you crying?" the angels asked her. It was Jesus, but she didn't recognize Him. 15 "Dear woman, why are you crying?" Jesus asked her. "Who are you looking for?" She thought He was the gardener. "Sir," she said, "if You have taken Him away, tell me where You have put Him, and I will go and get Him." 16 "Mary!" Jesus said. She turned to Him and cried out, "Rabboni!" (which is Hebrew for "Teacher"). 17 "Don't cling to Me," Jesus said, "for I haven't yet ascended to the Father. But go find My brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.'" 18 Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, "I have seen the Lord!" Then she gave them His message.
