"Remembering Our Baptism”

Living a Baptized Life

Matthew 3:13-17 (Common English Bible)

At that time Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan River so that John would baptize him. John tried to stop him and said, “I need to be baptized by you, yet you come to me?” Jesus answered, “Allow me to be baptized now. This is necessary to fulfill all righteousness.” So John agreed to baptize Jesus. When Jesus was baptized, he immediately came up out of the water. Heaven was opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and resting on him. A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son whom I dearly love; I find happiness in him.”

The baptism that was being done by John the Baptist was a baptism of redemption.

It was the will of God that Jesus be baptized by John in order to be identified with the sinners He came to save.

God wills that we would be baptized

1. As our identification with Jesus.

2. To remember what He did for us on the Cross.

3. That the Holy Spirit would empower our lives.

Life Lessons: The Book of Revelation

The book of Revelation need not be so complicated and confusing when boiled down to its core. This study examines it as a book of assurances for believers, confirming that when the smoke of the final battle clears, the Son of God, Jesus, will stand triumphant. Each of the 12 lessons has a Scripture passage, an

inspirational passage, and questions to answer, space for journaling, and a prayer.

Join the Open Door Class for this new study, beginning Sunday, January 26. Contact Don Morgan at dsmorg2@comcast.net to order a book. Cost is $10.

WCUMC Trustees have begun a Capital Improvement project to reduce our energy footprint and expenses by replacing all outdoor and indoor overhead lights (except Sanctuary) with LED lights, and replacing all T-12 florescent bulbs with T-8 florescent bulbs. T-8 bulbs will last 10 years, will not flicker and buzz, and will reduce energy cost by 25% - 50%.

Additionally, PSE has announced a Rebate Program to encourage retrofit. WCUMC estimated rebate will be $9,000, and retrofit should generate savings of approximately $4,500 per year.

A Designated Fund to raise the $26,500 needed for the full project has

been established.

If you want to make a donation to this fund, please write your checks to WCUMC with Lighting Project on the memo line.

More details will be shared during the Sunday morning worship service, and a special display will be set up in the Narthex.
