Here Am I

Isaiah 6

Trust and Obey

Kathy shared the story of how God prepared their hearts to go to Nicaragua, calling them to full-time mission work in 2002. They formed Alongside Ministries, not even sure of what that meant, but determined to “go and love the people of Nicaragua until they ask why.” The vision became God-sized as the ministry expanded from ministry in a small sports field to a major-league size footfall field, soccer fields, two basketball courts, library, computer room, and a soon-to-be completed swimming pool. They also have a lunch feeding program, a youth night, and a team ministry (host teams from churches).

Halle used a football analogy to explain how in order for a team to be successful, they have to play together as a team—each person has a role. It is the same in missions, we all have a role to play, whether it be prayer support, financial support, verbal or written encouragement or going on mission.

Like football players, we also need to know and study the playbook, the Bible.

We need to trust in the Lord, and not lean on our own understanding. (Psalm 3:5-6) Sometimes we will end up looking foolish, but we still need to obey. Look at:

By faith, they obeyed and God worked miracles.

What adventure is God calling you to? If you claim Jesus Christ as your Savior, you can be assured he is calling you to an adventure. There are mission opportunities all around if you’re willing to step out. God is not looking for the qualified; he’s looking for the willing. The greatest stories in the Bible involve risk. If you’re not willing to risk, you’ll never get out of the boat. What are you willing to risk to advance God’s kingdom?

The most important commandment, Jesus said, is to “love the Lord your God with all your all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Are you “all in” or just “partway in”? If we try and have one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom, we won’t make any progress… we’ll slip and fall. Let’s be “all in” and finish strong for the Lord.

Next week: We will be starting a new sermon series called Unstuck. First title in the series is Unimaginable.

Faith Promise Commitment

In dependence upon God, I will endeavor to give the amount designated towards the missions efforts of Woodinville Community UMC between November 2014 - October 2015. I understand that the Faith Promise is over and above tithes and offerings given to the general budget of the church and that the Faith Promise

does not include amounts I give directly to missionaries. I understand this is a faith agreement between God and me. $ ___________________________
