WEAVING DREAMSPURPOSE IN L IFE / STEERING YOUR CAREER
Alan L. Caceres
PURPOSE IN LIFE
Do you know how to
fly an airplane?
Do you know how to
use a TubeBot?
Focusing on ourselves
will never reveal our
life’s purpose
You were made by God
and for God – and until
you understand that,
life will never make
sense
To discover your life’s purpose: Ask God
It’s not about me – “Everything got started in Him
and finds its purpose in Him.” (Col 1:16b)
IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD
Long before you were conceived by your parents, you
were conceived in the mind of God
He also determined the natural talents you would
possess and the uniqueness of your personality
God made you so he could love you
God made you for a reason,
and your life has profound
meaning
I am not an accident – “I am
your Creator. You were in my
care even before you were
born.” (Isaiah 44:2)
YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT
What Drives Your Life?
Guilt
Anger
FearMaterial-
ism
Approval
Nothing matters
more than
knowing God’s
purpose for your
life, and nothing
can compensate
for not knowing
them – not
success, wealth,
fame or pleasure
THE REASON FOR EVERYTHING
Living for God’s glory is the greatest achievement we
can accomplish with our lives
When anything in creation fulfills its purpose, it
brings glory to God
God’s glory is the expression of his
goodness, and all his other
intrinsic, eternal qualities
It’s all for him – “For everything
comes from God alone. Everything
lives by this power, and everything
is for his glory.” (Romans 11:36)
1. Worship Him – far more than praising, singing and praying to God. It is a lifestyle of enjoying God, loving Him and giving ourselves to be used for his purpose.
2. Love other believers –we are part of God’s family. Following Christ is not just a matter of believing, it also includes belonging and learning to love the family of God.
FIVE PURPOSES FOR YOUR LIFE
3. Become like Christ – grow to
spiritual maturity; becoming like
Jesus in the way we think, feel
and act.
4. Serve others with our gifts – your
abilities are not for selfish
purposes but to benefit others,
just as others were given abilities
for your benefit.
FIVE PURPOSES FOR YOUR LIFE
MINISTRY
5. Telling others about Him – once
we know the truth, he expects us
to share it with others. It is a
great privilege to introduce others
to Christ and help them discover
their purpose.

CAREER: ELEMENTS
OF A NATURAL FIT
Natural talents & innate abilities –
talents give each person a special ability
to do certain kinds of tasks easily and
happily
The work matches your personality traits &
temperament – have a career that
gives you a chance to be yourself,
that fits your personality, that makes
you feel at home
Rewards fit your values - rewards are the
motivators that help keep you happily
performing your tricks at work. Some
rewards mean more to you than others.
That is because they are linked with
your values.
You fulfill your goals - To have
something to shoot for is an
important part of the joy of
working; gives you a sense of
challenge on the job
CAREER: ELEMENTS
OF A NATURAL FIT
Your work is interesting and meaningful –
people engaged in something they
care about are proud of what they
do and feel they are making a
contribution.
You find the workplace environment compatible -
each person flourishes in some
work environments and finds
others stressful or otherwise
inappropriate.
