TURKEY“Discovering Each Other”

MONDAY, 30TH SEPTEMBEROur plane from Istanbul landed at Adana airport in the evening. Some of the Turkish teachers were waiting for us there. The Estonian and the Italian team arrived about an hour later and we all went to Tarsus together.

The Polish team were already there because they had arrived in the morning.

Our host families were at Cleopatra's Gate. We were excited and happy to see them. We went to our Turkish homes and spent the rest of the evening with them while the Teachers went to their hotel.

TUESDAY,1ST OCTOBERIt was our first day in Tarsus. In the morning, we went to school where the Turkish teachers and students welcomed us. After that, two people from each team went to visit the the district Governor. There they drank tea and ate biscuits. The rest of the group went to a shopping centre where we all met again later.

We ate in a very beautiful restaurant called “Toy Bahçesi”

After lunch we visited the Tomb of Daniel the Prophet, Saint’s Paul Church, Forty Spoon Bazar and Ulu Cami (Mosque).

We returned home with our host family. Then we had very tasty food for dinner and in the evening we went to a disco and we danced and sang together. Later we went to a café and we talked for a while.

WEDNESDAY, 2ND OCTOBER We went to the school and we prepared a Handicraft Corner for each country with a few samples and an exhibition of our traditional handicrafts. We had a workshop activity on paper marbling.

In the afternoon, we had lunch in the school and we visited Cleopatra Gate, The Seven Sleeper's Cave and finally we had free time because the night was going to be very long. In the evening, we had a Turkish dinner with traditional food with the local authorities.

After dinner each country showed their rituals and we had an exhibition of traditional costumes. It was really amazing and enjoyable.

Thursday, 3rd October.

THURSDAY, 3RD OCTOBER.We were very sad because it was the last time that we saw some of our Turkish friends. We had to take a bus to Mersin. When we arrived in Mersin we visited the Forum shopping center and we ate in a restaurant in the Marina.

In the afternoon we visited Canytellis Ancient City, Elaiussa Sebaste, Porto Calamie, the Hell and the Heaven, Damlatas Cave and finally Kizkalesi. In the evening we had free time.

FRIDAY, 4TH OCTOBER.

We spent some time on the beach and we went on a very interesting tour of the area.

We ate in a very beautiful restaurant by the sea. It was really amazing. In the evening we saw a wedding and we enjoyed ourselves very much.

At 10:30 we had to say bye bye because we had to go to the airport since our plane back to Spain left very early in the morning…
