Leader:The one who is coming will be known as theLight of the World. All who dwell in Him will dwell in love forever and no darkness will be in them.

All: Jesus, be our hope, our peace, our light, and our love.

Reader:

From the very beginning of creation

Our God has made known great love.

When our need for a Savior was great,

God sent his Son to be born of the Virgin Mary.

To our lives this Savior brings joy and peace,

justice, mercy, and love.

A candle is burning, a candle of love,

A candle to point us to heaven above,

A Baby for Christmas, a wonderful birth,

For Jesus is bringing God's love to our earth.

Reader: Loving God, we thank you for the light that you

have sent and are sending into the world, the light that even now lights our path.

As you visited Mary and promised to her to bring forth from her the Promised One, so visit us this day and give us eyes to see, and hearts to welcome your presence. Make us a people who receive and give birth to your love in the world.
