The Seed of Woman!

between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall

bruise His heel."

Page 3: The seed of woman

We began last week looking at the person of Christ as both Lamb & Lion!

▪Today we will continue our study of the person of Christ as “The Seed of Woman!”

▪This description of Jesus is found in (Gen. 3:15) directly following the sin of man!

▸Many have called this passage “The 1st Gospel Sermon” others “The 1st Messianic Prophecy/ Promise!”

▸In the midst of pain and punishment, God makes a promise!

Page 4: The seed of woman

“Did God know what man would do before He created him?”

1 Pet. 1:18-20 “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your

aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed

was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.”

▪The coming of Christ & the church was not plan B, but plan A!

▪God has no problems, just plans!

The Eternal Purpose of God!

(Eph. 3:9-11; 2 Tim. 1:9-10; Tit. 1:2-3)

▪“Slain from the foundation of the world!”

▸Rev. 13:8 “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

▪It was always God’s plan to save man, by sending Jesus!

I. The Seed’s Promise!▪Anytime God speaks, we can know without

exception, that it is a “promise!”

▸Tit 1:2 “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.”

▸Num 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

▸2 Tim 2:13 “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”

There is a war between the seed of Satan and the Seed of the woman!

A spiritual battle! (Eph. 6:10-18)

▪God declared that a day was coming that a death blow would come upon Satan by “the seed of woman!”

▸“He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel!”

▸One is a fatal blow and the other isn’t!

▪The good news is that God has already conquered, God has already won!

Page 8: The seed of woman

The Seed Promise!▪The “seed” promise is found throughout the

Scriptures!

▸Abraham (Gen. 12, 17 and 22)

▸Isaac (Gen. 26)

▸Jacob/Israel (Gen. 35)

▸Moses (Ex. 32 and 33)

▸David (2 Sam. 7)

▪It is fulfilled in Jesus!

▸Gal. 3:16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, "And to seeds," as of many, but as of one, "And to your Seed," who is Christ.

II. The Seed’s Power!▪“I will put enmity between you and the

woman, and between your seed and her seed”

▸Enmity = the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something (Oxford) the very act of battle in a war (Strong’s)

▪ The result of this will be that “He will bruise your head, and you will bruise His heel”

▸One is a temporary wound!

▸One is an eternal wound!

Page 10: The seed of woman

The power to conquer Satan!▪Rev 12:10-11 "Then I heard a loud voice

saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. "And they conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony"

▪It was the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus that brought about the power to conquer Satan! (1 Cor 15:1-4, Rom 1:16)

Page 11: The seed of woman

III. The Seed’s Pardon! So what does all of this mean to us?

▪So what have we learned about Jesus as the “seed of woman?” What should we get from this lesson today? So far we have...

▸The Seed’s Promise!

▸The Seed’s Power!

▪This is where the message needs to become personal for each of us!

▸The promise was made, the power is available and all we have to do is accept it!

Page 12: The seed of woman

What is a pardon?▪Pardon defined!

▸Pardon = the action of forgiving or being forgiven for an error or offense (Oxford)

▪Pardon described!

▸Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

▸Joh 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Page 13: The seed of woman

Because of the Seed of Woman...▪We are given the ability, given a chance to

be released from the penalty of our actions!

▪This was exactly what Adam & Eve needed most that day, and what we need most today! We need to be pardoned!

▪One of the saddest and yet gladdest verses in all the Bible! (Rom. 6:23)

▸“For the wages of sin is death”

▸“but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Page 14: The seed of woman

Conclusion:▪We indeed serve an awesome God! May

we never forget that “God has not problems, just plans!”

▪Have you come to know “The Seed of Woman?” Have you come to know the promise, the power and the pardon?

▪If not, then today is the day to be forgiven and set free by the “Seed of Woman!”

▪God indeed loves His creation and He was willing pay the price for our sins!
