• Being slow to speak and slow to anger is hard to do. Yet this is the very work of a faith-based, Christ-centered leader.

• In order to be slow to speak one usually most also slow down in general.

• In what ways might you slow down and be quick to listen to the Lord?

• How are you currently providing time and space to listen for God?

• It is easy to deceive oneself. We can justify about anything to feed our need to feel good about ourselves or get what we want. Sadly, much of the time what we want and what is best for us are not the same things.

• Paul speaks of a shield of faith. • Usually a shield is meant for defense. Yet the shield we are

to use is one that pushes us forward and gives us courage. The shield of faith puts us on the offense.
