I’ve% often% wondered% if% Elijah% enjoyed% his% whirlwind% trip% to%heaven.% %Was%he%spinning,%like%in%a%tornado?%%Did%he%get%dizzy?%%And,%what% about%Elisha,%who%was% left% behind?% %Did%he%feel%all%alone?%%How%long%was%Elijah%in%the%whirlwind%before%he%arrived%into% the% Lord’s% presence?% % Was% there% a% big% celebration% in%heaven?% %These%are% just%a% few%of% the%questions% I’d%love%to% ask%Elijah%when%we%see%him%in%heaven!%%I% feel%like%we%can%relate%to%Elijah%in%a%lot%of%ways,%as%we’ve%felt%like%we’ve%been%in%the%midst%of% a%whirlwind%over% the%past% few%months!% %Our%heads%have%been%spinning%as%we’ve%been%blessed%over%and%over%by%God’s%people%on%two%continents!

With%the%help%of%about%25%dear%brothers%and%sisters% in%Christ,%%we%loaded%a%40’% container% in%Taichung%on%Saturday,% June%21st.%%And,% over% the% course% of% the% following% three% weeks,% we% said%farewell% to% those%who% have% become% family% to% us% during% the%past%16%years.% %How%hard%it%was% to%let%go!% %The%whirlwind,% the%emotions,% the% churning%was% often% felt%most% in%our%hearts% and%stomachs.% % Like% Elijah,% we% said% goodSbye% praying% that% the%church%would%become% as% bold%as% Elisha% after% Elijah’s% deparSture!

Then,%we%welcomed%a%huge%blessing%from%The%Crossing%Church,%in%Las%Vegas;%a%16Smember%team%sent%to%serve%at%Sports%&%EngSlish%Camp.% %Then,%on%July%12,%we%welcomed%nearly%50%faculty%to%the%campus%of%Morrison%Academy,%to%get%orientated%and%setSup%for% camp.% % On%the%13th,%we%welcomed%144%teenagers% from% all%over%Taiwan!% %What% a%terriYic%week%we%had!% %How%we%saw%the%Lord%working%in%so%many%lives!% %Brenda%and%I%rejoiced%to% be%in%the%midst%of%all%these%young%people%S%hearing%their%stories!% %20%

teens%made%YirstStime%decisions% to% follow% Jesus,% with%8%being%baptized%on% Saturday,% and% two% more% within% the% next% week!%%That’s% not% all%though,% as% the%Taichung% teens,% led%by% our% own%senior,% Vincent% Chang,%have% continued%to%meet% every% Sunday%since% SS% a% group% of% more% than% 35% teens,% and% bringing% their%friends!

On%July% 23,%we% said%goodbye%for% the% last% time% and%were% torn%away%from%Taiwan,% narrowly% escaping% an%oncoming% typhoon.%%We% spent% a% few%days% in%Hawaii%on%our%way%back% to% America,%just% sitting%on%the%beach%and%trying%to%collect% and%process%eveSrything%that%the%Lord%had%done.% %The%morning%jogs,%walking%on%the%beach%with%Brenda,% %starring%out% at% the%ocean%was%all%meSdicinal.% % It%was%all%a%valiant,%but% vain%attempt% to%stop%the%spinSning.% %For,% when%we%stepped%off% the%plane% in%Detroit,%on%July%28th,%it%all%began%again!

And,% though%our% supporting% church% here% in%Livonia% has% welScomed%us%with%open%arms,%nothing%is% as% it%was%or%has%been%for%the%past%16%years!% %Nothing,%but% the%love%of%God’s%people!% %On%Saturday,% Aug% 9th,% more% than% 25% dear% brothers% and% sisters%from%the%Memorial%church%came%to%help%us%unload%our%40’%conStainer.%%We’ve%been%blessed%with%a%new%home,%a%new%car,%a%new%school,%a%new%ofYice,% a% new%computer,%a%new%ministry% team,%a%new%church%family.% %All%of%these%we’ll%be%transitioning%into%over%the%next% four%months.% %Our% bags% and%boxes% are%not% nearly% all%unpacked,%but%we%will%hit% the%road%next%week%to% joyfully%begin%sharing%with%our% partner% churches% all% that% the%Lord%has% done%and%is%doing%in%Taiwan%and%our% lives.% %We%look%forward%to%seeSing%you%soon!%%

Sports & English Camp ’14

(From L to R, T to B) Keys to success: Like Wendy, a diverse and committed faculty. Great curriculum, a focus on God’s Word, excited teachers and translators, and teen-agers eager to learn. Great food, by Kenny and his team. Sports of all sorts that focus on the worth of every teenagers, rather than winning. Awesome times of worship, and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in hearts. More than 20 teens mad e decisions, with 8 of them being immersed at camp on Saturday morning. Many of these students have continued meeting weekly in Taichung, and they are bringing their friends!
