Major roads are closed. Markets are closed making it difficult for people in the city to get food. No one in his family has been affected yet by the virus. Some are dying from other sicknesses because they cannot get the medical attention they need. NIGERIA - August was a busy month for the churches.

YOUTH CAMP: Over 450 attended the Annual Youth Camp. The theme was Youthful Enterpriseand Resourcefulness - Genesis 39:1-6. Lessons and lectures were held on spiritual and physicalissues relating to the youth in Nigeria's contemporary society. Some of the topics were BalancingMorality and Success, Maximizing Your Potential, Bad Health Habits, Entrepreneurship and Whento Marry.

ORDINATION OF LEADERS: Seven churches in the Ekori zone joined together to ordain 3 elders,2 deacons and 14 deaconesses. Over two thousand attended the service.

ASSIGA NEW TOWN held special services for three purposes. First, they dedicated their newauditorium. Second, they launched a new project to build a parsonage for their evangelist. Third, 5elders, 8 deacons and 20 deaconesses were ordained for five churches in their zone.

ANNUAL WOMEN SEMINAR: 457 women attended the seminar whose theme was "Contentment"

- Philippians 4:1-3. The program encouraged spiritual and moral values that will enhance thephysical wellbeing of society.

Churches in other zones plan to have joint ordination services in September, October andNovember.

UNEXPECTED DEATH: Just as I was preparing this update, I received notice from SundayObeten of the sudden death of Dr. Ogum Obeten, consultant for the FAME medical clinic, the onlydoctor involved in the churches' medical outreach program and a consultant at the universityteaching hospital in Calabar. He will be greatly missed by the churches and the clinic.

GHANA:

NORTHERN REGION YOUTH CAMP: Youth from churches mentored by five church planterscame together for a six day meeting. They were encouraged through Bible studies and worship.

Two elderly ladies were recently baptized into Christ by Francis Addae. One of them brought outher idol charms to be burned.

PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUEST:

1. Thank God for the successful youth camps in Nigeria and Ghana.

2. Thank God for the women seminar and the ordination services in Nigeria.

3. Thank God for the new auditorium for the Assiga New Town Church.

4. Pray for comfort for the family and friends of Dr. Ogum Obeten.

5. Pray for the two elderly Ghanaian ladies who became Christians.
