SCIENCE FOR NATION BUILDING
“It is science alone that can solve the
problems of hunger and poverty, of
insanitation and illiteracy, of
superstition and deadening custom and
tradition, of vast resources running
to waste, or a rich country inhabited by
starving people.”
From the beginning of time man has
strived to improve his way and quality
of life.
Science
The process of discovering, explaining and
predicting natural or social phenomena whereas
technology is the activities that apply principles of science
and mechanics to the solution of specific problem.
Scientific knowledge is more essential for health,
wealth, creation rather than capital of land.
Developing areas
• Agriculture
• Health Care and Medicine
• Communication
• Nuclear Energy
• Transportation
• Food preservation
• Space Technology
Agriculture
•India is able to produce 135 million tonnes of food grains today as compared to 50 million tonnes thirty years ago.
•Cultivation of hybrid seeds to energy management in agriculture and post-harvest technology.
•Improving the economic growth and fiscal deficit of India.

• Comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance and medical equipment.
• Percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is rising.
Communication “India is now proudly among five nations in the
world which have established their own satellite navigation system. Until today, we were reliant on GPS and systems from other nations, but today we are independent”. Narendra Modi
• Technical innovation saved physical energy and work
• Network of communication and trade system
• Evolution of Wireless Generations
Nuclear Energy
• A way to secure the energy supply needed to support development.
• Production of electricity.
• Science for National Security
Transportation
• Exporting the Automotive.
• Ship building.
Food Preservation
To feed a growing population in a sustainable way, while
safeguarding both human and planet health.
Biotechnology aims to increase
productivity in the export sectors.

Space Technology
1
• India’s first spacecraft mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-1, was successfully launched on October 22, 2008.
2
• Mobile communications, meteorological observations, telemedicine,tele-education, disaster warning, radio networking, search and rescue operations, remote sensing and scientific studies of the space.
3
• India became the first Asian country to have entered the Mars sphere of influence (gravity) in its maiden attempt as a similar mission by China failed in 2011.
Conclusion
• Article 51AH - Developing scientific temper is one of the fundamental duties of a developing country.
