 was  the  "fight against heretics"  by  several institutions within the justice-system of the Roman Catholic Church.

The  inquisition  committed many  atrocious  acts  such  as  the burning of numerous victims at  the stake.  The  protestant  were  totally guilty of inflicting death and torture to those who refused to agreed with them.

Society of Jesus• Ignatius Loyola - founder•  is a Catholic male religious order that follows the teachings of the Catholic Church.

• They are also called Jesuits• They only took the vow of obedience

Missionaries Achievements:

• The missionaries went overseas to win millions of new Catholic faith through the help of the religious orders:

- Augustinian- Franciscan- Dominican• Francis Xavier – the most famous missionaries and the Apostle of India

• They established schools and influence European Politics

PROTESTANT

• Is a Christian• Split into numerous sects• Different organizations and belief

• Can marry and have a familyDo not accept them all

CATHOLICS

• Is a Christian• Catholic are organized by POPE

• Universal• Not allow to marry• Accepts papal authority, seven sacraments, and veneration of saints

Results of Reformation:

• Destroy unity• Give rise to numerous religious• Introduces reforms in the Catholic Church• Protestant splits into numerous sects• Ignite religious wars• Started a spiritual revival in Christianity

Religious Wars:Catholics vs. Protestant

• Sclumalkaldic War (1547-1555)-headed by Archduke Ferdinand- war against Catholic League-end up with the Treaty Augsburg(permitted 

Luherans  Protestanism to exit Germany)• Huguenot Wars (1562-1598)

- War against catholic monarchs, King Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III-ended by Henry IV granted freedom to Huguenots in religious worship

• War of Dutch (1566-1609)- Better known as War of Dutch Independence- War against Catholic ruler-ended by Truce of 1609 (Spain withdrew her sovereignty from 

the Netherlands)• War of King Philip II of Spain (1588)

-war against Anglican England- he lost the war because of Spanish armada( Invincible Armada)- England became “ Mistress of the  Sea’s” and the Anglican 

nation.• Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648)

the Catholic and the Protestant religions)
