Plan of Development and Notecards

How to create a Plan of Development (P-O-D)
The plan of development is the answer to your research question!
It should have 4 parts.
For example…
Ex: My question is…How did MLK’s faith impact his struggle? My P-O-D:Martin Luther King’s faith impacted his
rhetoric, the demands he made on himself, the expectations he had for others, and his style of leadership.
Notecard Basics… You need 35 total From at least 5 different sources Your cards will be used for the…
2 Background paragraphs 4 Point paragraphs 1 Exceptions paragraph 35 cards…7 paragraphs…5 cards per paragraph
Paraphrasing tips!
Steps to paraphrasing:
1) Reread the information in the source until you understand it completely

2) Turn the source upside down or push it away

3. Write the information on the note card IN YOUR OWN WORDS!
Be sure to change the wording and the structure!

4. Use quotation marks for any special phrase you borrow exactly (ex: “savage inequality”)*Only do this when the phrase is important and you can’t possibly restate it yourself

Take quotes carefully! You must have seven quotes: one for each
background, points and exception paragraph

What now? Start looking so you can answer your
research question and create your plan of development. (4 part answer)
As you go, add to your SOURCE SHEET Once you have a few parts to your answer,
