THE SHEPHERD & THE SHEEP

Jesus showed us time and time again that He would take care of those who follow Him. Just as a

shepherd takes care of his sheep,

so Jesus will always be there for His followers. No better depiction

of this exists than Psalm 23.

THE SHEEP: Each one of us

We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.We’ve all done our own thing,

gone our own way. (Isaiah 53:6 – The Message)

We all have wandered off, like shepherdless sheep,

scattered by our aimless striving and endless pursuits.

(Isaiah 53:6 – The Voice)

THE SHEPHERD: Jesus

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry

the lambs in his arms,holding them close to his heart.

(Isaiah 40:11 – New Living Translation)

The shepherd is posted to protect the sheep and they hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name

and leads them out . . .

he walks on ahead of them; and they follow him because they know his voice . . . I am

the good shepherd. . .

The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep in His care . . . The thief approaches with malicious

intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy;

I came to give life with joy and abundance . . . I am the good shepherd; I know My sheep, and My sheep know Me . . .

I will give My life for the sheep. (John 10:3-4, 10-11, 14-15 - The Voice)

He loves us

9 GIFTS OUR SHEPHERD GIVES US:

1. He purchased us! (The gift of his POSSESSION)

6. He is always with us! (The gift of his PRESENCE)

7. He watches over us! (The gift of his PROTECTION)

You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies . . .

8. He blesses us! (The gift of his PURPOSE)

Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me

9. He gives us a home in heaven!

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
