WONDER
MOM!
Matthew 20:20-28A Mother’s Request
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons
came to Jesus with her sons and,
kneeling down, asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two
sons of mine may sit at your right and
the other at your left in your kingdom.”
Matthew 20:20-28A Mother’s Request
22 “You don’t know what you are
asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you
drink the cup I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed
drink from my cup, but to sit at my right
or left is not for me to grant. These
places belong to those for whom they
have been prepared by my Father.”
A Mother’s Request
24 When the ten heard about this, they
were indignant with the two brothers.
25 Jesus called them together and said,
“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles
lord it over them, and their high officials
exercise authority over them.
Matthew 20:20-28
A Mother’s Request
26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever
wants to become great among you must
be your servant,
27 and whoever wants to be first must
be your slave— 28 just as the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but to
serve, and to give his life as a ransom
for many.”
Matthew 20:20-28
1. She Humbles Herself As She Worship
God.
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s
sons came to Jesus with her sons
and, kneeling down, asked a
favor of him.
As mothers, we should be a
good example to our
children on how we should
approach His presence.
In our daily lives, are we approaching the Lord in humility and with great respect?
Are we able to worship and glorify Him as we do our responsibilities as a mother?
2. ShePrays &
IntercedesFor Her Sons.
When God Created
Mothers by Erma BombeckShe says that on the day God createdmothers He had already worked longovertime. And an angel said to Him, "Lord, you sure are spending a lot of time on thisone."
The Lord turned & said, "Have you readthe specs on this model? She is supposedto be completely washable, but not plastic.
When God Created
Mothers by Erma BombeckShe is to have 180 moving parts, all ofthem replaceable. She is to have a kiss that will healeverything from a broken leg to a brokenheart. She is to have a lap that will disappearwhenever she stands up. She is to be ableto function on black coffee & leftovers. And she is supposed to have six pairs ofhands."
"Six pairs of hands," said the angel, "that'simpossible." "It's not the six pairs of handsthat bother me," said the Lord, "It's thethree pairs of eyes. She is supposed tohave one pair that sees through closeddoors so that whenever she says, 'Whatare you kids doing in there?' she alreadyknows what they're doing in there."
When God Created
Mothers by Erma Bombeck
"She has another pair in the back of herhead to see all the things she is notsupposed to see but must see. And thenshe has one pair right in front that canlook at a child that just goofed &communicate love & understandingwithout saying a word."
When God Created

"That's too much." said the angel, "You can't putthat much in one model. Why don't you rest fora while & resume your creating tomorrow?"
"No, I can't," said the Lord. "I'm close to creatingsomeone very much like myself. I've alreadycome up with a model who can heal herselfwhen she is sick who can feed a family of six withone pound of hamburger & who can persuade anine year old to take a shower."

Then the angel looked at the model ofmotherhood a little more closely & said,"She's too soft." "Oh, but she is tough,"said the Lord. "You'd be surprised at howmuch this mother can do."
"Can she think?" asked the angel. "Notonly can she think," said the Lord, "butshe can reason & compromise &persuade."
When God Created

Then the angel reached over & touched hercheek. "This one has a leak," he said. "I told youthat you couldn't put that much in one model.""That's not a leak," said the Lord. "That's a tear."
"What's a tear for?" asked the angel. "Well it's forjoy, for sadness, for sorrow, for disappointment, for pride." "You're a genius," said the angel. Andthe Lord said, "Oh, but I didn't put it there."

As mothers, it’s our responsibility
to pray and intercede for our
children. To ask for God’s
guidance and to seek the Lord’s
will be done to their live.
Are we having our
daily intimate time
of devotion with
the Lord to pray
and intercede for
our family?
3. She Wants
The Best For Her Sons In
The Kingdom Of God.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”
As mothers, we should desire the
best for our children. Not just on
earthly perspective but on
heavenly basis according to what
has God in -store for them.
Like Salome, Do we
want our children
to be as closer as
possible with God?
What are your
specific God-given
visions for your
children in the
Kingdom of God?
