1 Thessalonians 4:9-121 Thessalonians 4:9-129 Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. 10 And in fact, you do love all the brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, dear friends, to do so more and more,

Page 15: Live Your Love Out Loud

1 Thessalonians 4:9-121 Thessalonians 4:9-1211 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Walk in Love (4:9–Walk in Love (4:9–10)10)

• There was no need to write to them about love; • he had taught them about this, • and God Himself taught them through the Spirit (Rom. 5:5).

Walk in Love (4:9–Walk in Love (4:9–10)10)

• It is not enough that we love only those in our own fellowship;–like these people in Thessalonica, we must love all of God’s people and also the lost (3:12) more every day.

Walk in Honesty Walk in Honesty (4:11–12)(4:11–12)

• Paul talks about the believer’s vocation and his contacts with the unsaved in the world. • People had misunderstood the

promise of Christ’s return, quit their jobs, and had become “parasites” who lived off the other Christians.

Walk in Honesty Walk in Honesty (4:11–12)(4:11–12)

• Verse 11 literally means “Be ambitious to be quiet.” –That is, do not fret and worry and involve yourself in the world’s activities.

Walk in Honesty Walk in Honesty (4:11–12)(4:11–12)

• The Christian who does an honest day’s work and who is careful to maintain a good testimony will influence the unsaved
