Introduction Thomas Foley, formerly of New Jersey and, now, Texas,

spent several years honing his legal skills in New York City before co-founding Foley Perlman & Campbell, a firm with an office in Hoboken, NJ.

Representing national companies allowed Tom to develop a business interest, which ultimately led to him to accepting a legal and operations position with a client. After joining this national lighting services company, Tom was constrained to respond to the company's improper financial accounting - accounting practices that led to the demise of the company. Tom recognized the need for a proper foundation for business ventures as well as the required focus on "balancing justice."

About Kids in Need Defense As a result, Tom launched the Indigo Group, with offices in New

York City and Dallas, Texas to advance socially conscious businesses. To pursue the balance of justice, Thomas Foley volunteers with the program Kids In Need of Defense.

Established in 2008 by the Microsoft Corporation and entertainer and child advocate Angelina Jolie, Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) provides legal counsel on a pro bono basis to immigrant children in the United States without parents or guardians who are trying to deal with the immigration system. In addition, KIND also advocates for action from the government in the form of updated legislation and policy that recognizes and addresses the problem of immigrant children facing deportation without benefit of counsel.

Conclusion The Guatemalan Child Return and Reintegration Project is

a pilot program that deals with the reality that some children who are facing deportation are not eligible to remain in the United States. These children still require proper legal representation to ensure that they are returning to a safe and secure environment in Guatemala.

Regardless of one's view on immigration, Tom recognized that unaccompanied immigrant children faced with the legal pressures of the U.S. immigration court, require counsel and guidance. Without such guidance, a right not granted such children, they face an unknown process.

Being an advocate for social justice is Tom's guiding force.
