Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days

before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that

these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.

Euphrates River to Be Dried Up In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates Riverwill be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle ofArmageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesuswill return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in Hisone thousand-year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline “Turkey Will Cut Off Flow ofEuphrates for One Month.” The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, theflow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have nowbeen done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.

In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill “the third part of men.” Never in thehistory of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However,the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbookreports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number is growing by 10million per year.

In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that aworld dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without whichthey will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly everyhuman being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years,we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependenton an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urgingthe abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the inventionof the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.

Revelation 13:7 andDaniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalent phrase inthe world’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. Inthe September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq is the first test for the NewWorld Order.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations’ troops arecontinually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community ofnations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world govern-ment. The formation of this government is at hand.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertaining to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

Christ KillersGod is done with the ethnic Hebrew. The Jew must be grafted

in the same way that all men must, through Jesus Christ whomthey murdered. The country of Israel knows that as long asAmerica supports it, they have a chance. Israel and America aretwo synonymous beings....both governed by the Jewish principalsof freemasonry, Jewish government, and both are run by goodol’ Hebrew wealth and riches.

Sadly I now see ministers steeped in dispensationalism tryingto speed up God’s hand by breeding red heifers, and allowingpeople like Gershon Salomon and the Temple Mount Faithful tocollect riches untold to build a third temple, which I believe isunscriptural. The third temple is our person. Our hearts arewhere Christ now resides, not an ark or temple.

REPLY It is true that the plan of salvation is the same today forJewish people as it is for Gentiles. However, asserting that God isdone with physical Israel is a direct contradiction of scripture. InRomans 11:25-26 the Apostle Paul taught, “For I would not,brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest yeshould be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part ishappened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be comein.” Paul clearly teaches that, after the fullness of the Gentiles iscome in, the blindness of the nation of Israel will be ended. Hegoes on to say that all Israel will then be saved.

This is reinforced by Zechariah 12:10, “And I will pour uponthe house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, thespirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon mewhom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as onemourneth for his only son…” This will come to pass when Jesusreturns to earth at the Mount of Olives to fight the battle ofArmageddon.

I do agree that we should not contribute to the offering of ani-mal sacrifices and that God no longer dwells in temples madewith hands. This does not remove the fact that a Jewish templewill stand on the Temple Mount during the great tribulation(Revelation 11:1-2 & II Thessalonians 2:3-4).

By the way, you refer to the Jewish people as Christ killers.Scripture teaches that all who reject Jesus as Messiah are guiltyof the crucifixion, even to this day. (Acts 5:28, “… behold, yehave filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring thisman's blood upon us.”)

Many people who believe what you are sharing in this letterembrace a doctrine called Preterism. We recently completed anew video series, “Refuting Preterism”. Some of the points wemake in this two-hour series may be a blessing to you. I encour-age you to carefully consider why we believe Preterism is unscrip-tural. We might also be able to arrange a Bible study for you with

Post-Mark Repentance?As I was studying your Understanding the Endtime Level 3

series, “The Sequence of Endtime Events”, a question poppedinto my mind. We have always taught that once you take theMark of the Beast there is no repentance. But Revelation statesseveral times that “they” still don't repent even in the face of theWrath of God. To me, this would seem to indicate that they dohave the opportunity to repent, but they don't. Is it possible thata few may repent even though they have taken the Mark?

REPLY I’m not sure that I can answer your question conclu-sively. Revelation 14:9-11 says: “…If any man worship the beastand his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in hishand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God,which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indig-nation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in thepresence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever:and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast andhis image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

This passage seems to indicate that there is no salvation oncea person receives the mark of the beast.

The point you have made has to be considered. However, Ithink opening the possibility that a person could take the markand then afterward be saved is very dangerous. It could causepeople to weaken under the pressure of the great tribulation,thinking that they could later repent of taking the mark.

It appears to me that taking the mark is without remedy.

Oil & WineI was listening to a non-prophecy sermon on the radio this

morning centering around Jesus' parable of the Good Samari-tan. I heard something that I never noticed before. Luke 10:34reads, “And [the Samaritan] went to him [the half-dead man],and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set himon his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took careof him.”

My mind went to the 3rd Seal in Revelation 6, the Black Horserider, who held in his hand a pair of balances. Verse 6 says, “AndI heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure ofwheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; andsee thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”

How might the reference to oil and wine inthe Good Samaritan parable relate to thispassage from Revelation?

REPLY Even though the same phrase isused in both passages, it is used in a totally dif-ferent way. Wine was used to cleanse thewound of the man that had been beaten, andoil was then applied to soothe the woundafter it had been cleansed.

In the Third Seal prophecy, the black horsesymbolizes capitalism. The oil and wine arereferred to as principal items of commerce.The warning to not hurt the oil and the wineis a warning to not hurt the economy.

In my opinion, these two references to oiland wine are not related.

Wanting Revelation on Revelation

It sure would be helpful to have a study onthe book of Revelation by a man with the rev-elation! I subscribe to ENDTIME Magazine andalways look forward to each issue. Do youthink that you will ever take your radio seg-ments and make a verse by verse study?I sure hope you do!

REPLY I cannot tell you exactly where weare on God’s prophetic time clock. I know forcertain that we have entered the endtime.

Now for my opinion... It looks like to me

that we are very close to the beginning of thefinal seven years. I believe this because thepeace proposals recently presented for theMiddle East by the International Communitymatch what the Bible prophesies for the finalseven-year period. Caution... Even though I don’t think it willbe, it’s not impossible that it could be anoth-er five or ten years before the final seven-yearperiod begins. On the other hand, it is a pos-sibility that it already began on April 30th ofthis year. I simply am not sure at this point.

IT’S A BIG LIE.At stake could be which side the UnitedStates will be aligned with in the end-time—Israel or the Antichrist.

In late August, Judge Roy Moore wassuspended from his duties as AlabamaSupreme Court Chief Justice. His ‘crime’:Defying a federal court order to remove aTen Commandments monument fromthe rotunda of the Alabama SupremeCourt building. The issue dominatednational headlines for days; the man wasvilified and held up for ridicule. After all,he was ‘violating the Constitution’srequirement for separation of churchand state.’

Is this case bigger than the Scopes Mon-key Trial of 1925? “It’s bigger,” Mooresaid. “We’re fighting for the heart andsoul of this nation. The ‘Scopes MonkeyTrial’ was [about] evolution in school.This is about whether or not we can even

acknowledge God. I think this is muchmore pivotal. Whether or not we canacknowledge God is a foundation of ourentire government.”

What Moore is actually doing is fightingthe myth of “separation of church and

state.” There is nothing in the Constitu-tion mandating this. You wouldn’t havethought that, however, had you tappedinto any news sources in late August.That’s how big the lie is, and it has result-

ed in the First Amendment being used asa weapon to ban the Bible from publiclife. What we are witnessing today underthe guise of upholding the Constitutionis, in fact, leading to its undermining.

Let’s take a look at the real story.

Original Intent of First Amendment

A judge’s job is to interpret the law, notto make the law. So, what does the FirstAmendment say and what was theauthor’s intent?

The First amendment was written byFisher Ames and states that “Congress shallmake no law concerning the establishmentof a religion nor the free exercise thereof.”The courts are supposed to interpret theintention of the founding fathers. Not onlyare they supposed to go by the words ofthe Constitution, but by the intent of thosewords as well. Was Fisher Ames’ intentionto eliminate every vestige of God, the

David Barton, author of the book Orig-inal Intent, and producer of the videoAmerica’s Godly Heritage says, “Well,consider a quote from the same FisherAmes. He stated in 1801, ‘The Bible is thesource of sound morality and behavior inAmerica and we must never let it be sepa-rated from the classroom.’”

It would appear to be contradictingtoday’s interpretation. Is somethinggoing on behind the scenes? Unfortu-nately, too many people are content tobelieve what they hear on the eveningnews without ever searching out theanswers for themselves.

The Quotes, The FactsThe original intent of the First Amend-

ment was that there was not to be, by gov-ernment decree, one Christian denomi-nation running the nation as had beenthe case in England. Consider the word-ing that had been proposed by JamesMadison: “Congress shall make no law toestablish a national religion.”

In fact, the last iteration before thefinal wording read, “Congress shall makeno law establishing any particular denom-ination in preference to others.”

These, as well as other documentediterations, illustrate that the words “reli-gion” and “denomination” were inter-changeable. With that in mind, here is apossible reading: “Congress shall makeno law respecting an establishment ofdenomination or prohibiting the freeexercise thereof.”

The original intent is now becomingclearer. Support of religion by the state isnot prohibited by the First Amendment.Prohibiting the establishment of onedenomination or religion in preferenceto any other is the intent of the FirstAmendment.

But keep in mind this very importantfact: The First Amendment is the ration-ale being used to ban the Bible, God andreligion from all public life. Leading thatcharge is the American Civil LibertiesUnion (ACLU) who in effect says, “God,we don’t like your rules, and we’re not

going to follow them. We want them outof sight and out of mind.” Chief JusticeMoore believes this is the culmination ofwhat they have been working towardsince the injection of evolution into thepublic school system and the removal ofcreationism.

America is at the crossroads. Can aUnited States who has divorced herself

from God stand up to an endtime worldgovernment or will she instead be trum-peting the beast’s call? Will history judgeRoy Moore’s case as the ultimate turningpoint?

Confusion in the Court“There is so much confusion in the

courts about the First Amendment,”Moore told ENDTIME. “One court allowsthe Ten Commandments to stay andanother says it can’t. There are so manyvariations in the rulings that what we find

is there is no rule of law. There’s no setinterpretation in this case. We’re having arule of men, which means the individualopinions of men.

“Religion was defined by the foundingfathers as the duties that we owe to theCreator and the manner of dischargingit,” he added. “It specifically recognized ahigher authority and a higher law. They

don’t want that definition today. The Fed-eral District Court that ruled on this casedoesn’t want that definition. Instead, itsaid the court did not have the expertiseto define religion and indeed it was dan-gerous and unwise to define the word.”

Moore asserts that if a word in a statutecan’t be defined, then the statute can’t beinterpreted. “You can’t rule by law. Theonly thing you can rule by is how you feelabout something, and that’s not law.”

It is obvious to the casual observer thatAmes’ words have been twisted to mean

the opposite. The salient question thenbecomes, are the people making thesedecisions aware of the facts? Do theyknow where Fisher Ames stood on theseissues? Perhaps, but many want to re-shape America into their own image andthey are winning because the atheisticelement in our society knows where thepower is, and they have plotted andplanned to get control of the judgeshipsof this nation.

Is “Separation of Church and State” in the Constitution?

Celebrating the Moore suspension,Barry Lind, Executive Director for Amer-icans United for Separation of Churchand State remarked, “This is a tremen-dous victory for the rule of law andrespect for religious diversity. Finally, thelaw has been upheld.”

Law? There is no law that mentions aseparation of church and state.

Sometimes history can hurt. We havealready seen that the original intent ofthe First Amendment was to prevent, bygovernment decree, one Christiandenomination running the nation as itwas in England. So, where did the phrase“separation of church and state” origi-nate?

“In 1801, the Danbury ConnecticutBaptist Association heard a rumor thatthe Congregationalist denomination wasgoing to be made the national denomi-nation,” explains David Barton. “Theysent a letter of protest to PresidentThomas Jefferson. He responded on Jan-uary 1st of 1802. In his letter, Jeffersonexplained that the First Amendment pro-hibited the government from doing whatthe Danbury Baptist Association feared.The words he used in his letter toexpound on this were ‘the First Amend-ment has erected a wall of separationbetween church and state.’ This is wherethe phrase comes from.”

Once again, the issue was not religion,but denomination. Jefferson was pointingout that the reason the First Amendmentwas put in the Constitution was to keepfrom happening in America what hap-pened in England. It was to ensure thatthe U.S. Congress would not establish anofficial religion. Now, opponents of theTen Commandments claim that thisanalysis is out of context and that if a per-

son were to read the entirety of Jeffer-son’s letter, this fact would become evi-dent. In actuality, they are betting on thefact that people won’t ever read the letter.

How Did All This Evolve? ACLU sympathizers claim that the

phrase, “separation of church and state”brings forth the obvious conclusion,“therefore no religious theory can betaught in schools.” Nothing could be fur-ther from the truth.

In 1791, Benjamin Rush, a signer of theDeclaration of Independence, wrote inan education policy paper citing over adozen reasons why the Bible must neverbe taken out of the schools in America.

Warning of the consequences of remov-ing the Bible from classrooms, he wrote,“In contemplating the political institu-tions of the United States, I lament, thatwe waste so much time and money inpunishing crimes and take so little painsto prevent them.”

Founding father Noah Webster wrotethe following in one of his textbooks: “Allthe miseries and evils which men sufferfrom vice, crime ambition, injustice,oppression, slavery and war, proceedfrom their despising or neglecting theprecepts contained in the Bible.”

Neither the First Amendment nor the“separation of church and state” ever hadanything to do with taking religion out ofschools or government. To the contrary,the founding fathers went out of theirway to point out that the country woulddie if religion was taken out of theschools.

Separation of church and state wasnever their intention. It is rather theintent of the ACLU and others who haveplaced themselves above the founders ofthis country and, more importantly,above God Himself. What is the primarydifference between the founders of ourcountry and the people who want the TenCommandments removed from all gov-ernment property? Let’s cut to the chase.It’s that the founding fathers believed inGod and the Bible. These principles holdpeople to certain moral behaviors. Onthe other hand, if you don’t believe inGod or the Bible, and you don’t believethere are any consequences for wrongactions, then you would probably beunencumbered by such laws as the TenCommandments. This is the point atwhich a person places himself above God.

What Does This All Mean?Barton points out that in 1892, the

Supreme Court noted that each of the 44states had some type of God-centered dec-laration in its constitution. Is it any won-der that each session of Congress beginswith prayer? And this is followed by thePledge of Allegiance, which includes thephrase, “...one nation, under God...”

According to Dr. Mel C. Glenn, Sr.,director of the Foundation for Moral Law(www.morallaw.org), an organization thatsupports Moore’s position, the Federaljudge who issued the ruling againstMoore, Myron Thompson, stated at theend of the trial that “he would begin towrite his opinion as to whether or not thestate of Alabama can acknowledge God.That was the central issue upon whichthis was judged—if the state couldacknowledge God.”

The ACLU and many, many othersknow these facts, but the facts do notserve their ends. There are many people,perhaps like yourself, who have been avictim of this blatant revisionism. But nowyou know the truth. e

o some, it’s just a news report. Toothers, it’s a sign of the waythings ought to be. But for

prophecy students, it’s God. With the announcement that the Euro-

pean Union is establishing its own mili-tary force, a very important endtimeprophecy fulfillment is solidified. Alreadythe EU is expanding to include 25 coun-tries next year. It will also adopt a Euro-pean Constitution and elect the firstEuropean president.

Is it just news or is it more? The fact is,Daniel 2 prophesies that in the latter daysthere will be a revival of a kingdom thatwill resemble the Roman Empire in manyways. It will include a religious element aswell, and become the power base of theworld government and its leader, theAntichrist.

With the birth of this new superpowerof 450 million people, we are watchingGod’s divine hand in action. He said itwould be so, and it is. The EU has been inactive development since 1957’s signingof the Treaty of Rome, and it is coming tofull fruition seemingly overnight beforeour eyes. It’s the prophesied revival of theHoly Roman Empire.

The PoliticsConsider 25 nation-states, a constitu-

tion, a president with teeth and now amilitary. It is this latter development of anEU military that puts the icing on thecake. The planned independent militarywing, headquartered in Belgium, willexist outside of NATO. While this mayundermine the basis of NATO, it is rec-ognized that Europe will never be able topull her weight in world affairs as anequal with the United States until she hasher own military muscle and has thecapacity to plan and execute Europeanoperations autonomously.

NATO is a mutual defense pactbetween the United States, Canada and

Europe to protect the West from Russia.The United States has dominated

world affairs because of unrivaled militaryand economic power. The EuropeanUnion has been working on the economywith great success. By 2004, its populationof 450 million will dwarf the U.S. popula-tion of 280 million. All the modern coun-tries of Europe are now merging. Accord-ing to Bible prophecy, we are watching arevival of the Holy Roman Empire.

The ProphecyThroughout its 1,000-year history, the

Holy Roman Empire has always had twoleaders—political and religious. Theprophecy in Daniel 2 teaches that thisHoly Roman Empire will be the lastempire on the earth. Let’s take a stepback and look at what it says.

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, hada dream. Daniel recounted his dream andthen provided the interpretation. Theactual dream is recorded in Daniel 2:31-35, the interpretation in verses 36-45.

The dream depicted a great imagewhose head was of gold, breast and armsof silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs ofiron, and feet of iron mingled with clay.Then a stone, which was cut out withouthands, smote the image upon the feet. Itbroke the iron, the brass, the clay, the sil-ver and the gold into pieces. As Neb-uchadnezzar watched, the stone thatsmote the image grew until it became agreat mountain and filled the wholeearth.

Through Daniel, God told Nebuchad-nezzar that each section of the imagestood for a world dominating empire thatwould be succeeded by another, and thatthe head of gold represented him and hiskingdom, Babylon. The Media-PersianEmpire, followed (breast and arms of sil-ver). Then came Greece (belly and thighsof brass); and then the Roman Empire(legs of iron). Rome ruled the world dur-

ing the days of Jesus Christ, and contin-ued until about 300 AD. There would notbe another empire for the next 500 years.

The Last EmpireThe prophecy states that one more

empire would rise which would rule over“all the earth.” Until this last empire, eachsection of the image in the king’s dreamhad a completely different metal fromthe previous section. From the head ofgold, to the arms and breasts of silver, tothe belly and thighs of brass, and to thelegs of iron, each is a total change of met-als. The feet, however, consist of two ele-ments — iron and clay. The mixture indi-cates that the element of iron (theRoman Empire) from the legs would sur-vive; however, another element (the clay)would be mixed in.

After the Roman Empire came anotherempire, which was related, but different.This latest empire was called the HolyRoman Empire, founded 500 years laterin 800 AD. It was a partnership betweenCharlemagne and Pope Leo III, a politi-cal leader and a spiritual leader. The lastworld government, which is now emerg-ing, will also be ruled by two men. The

political leader will be the Antichrist, andthe spiritual leader will be the FalseProphet (Revelation 19:19-20).

Note that the iron element of the for-mer Roman Empire remained, but thatthe new clay element, the RomanCatholic Church, had been added.Remember that the image in the king’sdream had feet of iron mixed with clay. Itis easy to see that the clay represents theRoman Catholic Church. The HolyRoman Empire has always been a unionof church and state.

Often the pope was so powerful that heappointed the rulers of Europe. Upon

their coronation, many European kingswould make the obligatory trip to Romeon order to bow at the feet of the pope,kiss his foot, and receive his blessing. Thisrefers to the scripture in Daniel 2:43 thatsays, “And whereas thou sawest ironmixed with miry clay, they shall minglethemselves with the seed of men.” Thisrefers to religion involving itself in poli-tics, which is what happened under theguise of the Holy Roman Empire. If his-tory holds true, the pope will probablyhave a very strong say in who will lead thisfinal Holy Roman Empire.

The most important element of Neb-uchadnezzar’s dream is the “stone.” The

stone, which was cut out of the mountain,rolled down and smote the image uponthe feet. The stone represents the king-dom of God (v. 44). The feet of the imagerepresent the Holy Roman Empire! Thisillustrates to us that the Holy RomanEmpire will be in existence when Jesusreturns to establish His kingdom.

The Ten-Horned KingdomThe last part of the statue representing

world image is the ten toes. The ten hornssymbolize ten kings that will come togeth-er in the last days and become the powerbase of the Antichrist. The ten toes will be

a revival or a continuation ofthe Holy Roman Empire.

Daniel 2:44-45 says, “And inthe days of these kings shall theGod of heaven set up a king-dom, which shall never bedestroyed:”

Another prophecy concern-ing this time is found in Revela-tion 17. Here, the Holy RomanEmpire is depicted as a womanriding a beast. This beast hasten horns that symbolize tenkings that will rule at the end ofthe time of human govern-ment, and will fight againstJesus Christ. These ten kingswill make war against the Lamb,Jesus Christ.

In Revelation 13, there is aseven-headed, ten-hornedbeast, which depicts the one-world government of theAntichrist. The beast is the

same as the one in Revelation 17 only thatsame seven-headed, ten-horned beast hasa woman riding its back. The woman iscalled the Great Whore, or the Great Har-lot. It can be proven conclusively that thewoman is the Vatican, the RomanCatholic Church. This fits perfectly withthe union between politics and religionthat was prophesied by the iron mingledwith clay. That prophecy was fulfilled bythe founding of the Holy Roman Empirein 800 AD.

Religion and the EUAn article recently appeared in the

European Union Observer entitled “TurkishPrime Minister Wants EU Constitution toAvoid Religious Reference.” Pope JohnPaul II has repeatedly called for the inclu-sion of a statement in the EU’s constitu-tion that recognizes the historic relation-

ship between Europe and the RomanCatholic Church. He knows that the HolyRoman Empire cannot be a totally secularempire.

However, Turkey does not embraceChristianity in any form because it is near-ly 98% Muslim. Turkey desperately wantsto be included in the European Unionbecause that’s where the future is, but sheis bitterly opposed to any religious stipu-lation. But throughout history, the cur-rent member nations have been tightlybound to the Vatican either through theRoman Catholic Church or throughProtestantism, which originated from theRoman Catholic Church.

Twenty-Five Kings to Ten?If the European Union is to fulfill the

ten-king aspect of the prophecy, there willbe some hurdles to overcome. How will 25member states produce ten kings? Today,we cannot answer this question. Perhaps itwill come in the form of a ten personinner circle or council. Such is beingopenly discussed. Time will certainly tell.

Betrayal and VictoryThe Bible clearly prophesies a dual

leadership. The Holy Roman Empire hasalways been a union of the strongestpolitician on the scene, possibly a futureEU president, and the strongest religiousleader who, historically has been thepope. Yet, the Bible says that the tenhorns will hate the woman. It shall eat herflesh and burn her with fire. Revelation17:16 says, “and the ten horns which thousawest upon the beast, these shall hate thewhore, and shall make her desolate andnaked, and shall eat her flesh, and burnher with fire.”

The stone, Jesus Christ, mentioned inDaniel 2:45, will then destroy world gov-ernment and establish His kingdom onthe earth. This gives us absolute proofthat Jesus Christ will come back duringthe time of the soon-to-come revived HolyRoman Empire. e

When the former leader ofPoland, Lech Walesa, spoke atHarvard University on September24, he left no one wondering where he stoodon the issue of one-world government. The fol-lowing article, reprinted with permission fromThe Harvard Crimson (9/25/03, by Kate A.Tiskus), bore the title, “Walesa Defines NewEra: Polish leader advocates global parliament.”

Recall, Walesa was the founder and leaderof Poland’s Solidarity labor movement, born in1980, which sparked the Velvet Revolutionresulting in the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Itwas revealed 12 years later, in 1992, that Sol-idarity was conceived by Pope John Paul II, aPole himself, and funded by the United States.

THE WORLD CAN EITHER CHOOSEto accept American leadership or cedethe power to a restructured global gov-ernment, former president of PolandLech Walesa told an overflowing crowd at

the newly rededicated John F. KennedyForum yesterday evening (Sept. 24).

Walesa, who holds an honorary Har-vard degree, led the Solidarity labormovement within Poland and helped top-ple the Cold-war era Communist regimein his country.

Speaking through a translator, Walesainstructed the student crowd to seize whathe called a historic moment. “This gener-ation opened a new century, but it alsoopened a new era,” he said. “This eraneeds a new system and new politicalarrangements.”

Those arrangements would include “aglobal parliament,” which Walesadescribed as a stronger replacement forthe United Nations (UN) that wouldfocus on sending world forces to combataggression along national borders, terror-ism and the resurgence of anti-Semitic orracist ideologies.

“Let’s replace the (UN) Security Coun-cil with a global parliament, and placeNATO as the defense authority of theentire world,” he said.

If the United States does retain its lead-

ership role, said Walesa, it needs to beready to combat the fallout of the col-lapse of the remaining Communist sys-tems, such as Cuba.

Walesa emphasized that the burden ofchange was on the new generation.

“I look at you as a generation that hasan opportunity at your disposal unlikeany other,” he said. “In five years, notmore than 10 years, the world will decideabout its future direction. I am askingyou, despite your young age, to take itinto your hands because if you do not,someone else will take into their handsand results could be disastrous.” e

Labor Party Signs Deal inJordan with Palestinians

On October 11, 2003, an agreementwas reached between liberal elements inIsrael and the Palestinians for a finalpeace treaty. This agreement, which hasbeen under negotiation for about oneyear, was finalized in Jordan by YossiBeilin, Shimon Peres’ right-hand manduring the Oslo Accords in 1993. Thenew agreement is modeled after the offermade between Barak and Arafat, whichArafat refused.

The “Geneva Agreement,” the text ofwhich has yet to be released, wasdescribed by Ha’aretz as “a draft memo-randum for a permanent Israeli-Palestin-ian Peace agreement, formulated bymembers of the Israeli opposition andPalestinian officials, [that] includes thePalestinians relinquishing their claim to aright of return to areas inside the state ofIsrael. Under the terms of the agreement,the Palestinians would, in return, be

granted sovereignty over the TempleMount. The area would be monitored byinternational bodies. The Jewish quarterof the old city of Jerusalem, as well as theWestern Wall would remain under Israel.”Another report said that although all peo-ple would have a right to the TempleMount, Jews would not be allowed to praythere.

The National Religious Party, com-prised of Israel’s chief rabbis, is no longerin power. The secular Labor Party willnow be deciding Israel’s fate, but even theliberals in Israel understand that right ofreturn means the end of Israel.

Similarities exist between the Roadmapfor Peace and the Geneva Agreement.Both recognize the Saudi Arabia initiativewhich says that Israel must return to pre-1967 borders. The difference betweenthe Roadmap and Geneva is that theRoadmap calls for phased changes, thefirst of which is the already failed man-date to eliminate all terrorist activity. Bycomparison, the Geneva Agreement isproposing a quantum leap, demandingthat all changes be agreed upon at theonset.

The Palestinians and Arafat are endors-ing the agreement. Under its terms, thePalestinians can claim to have recovered100 percent of what they lost, in additionto having sovereignty over what they call

the Haram al Sharif—the Temple Mount.Even though the Labor Party has nego-

tiated this agreement over the last year—they have no power to implement it. Thepresent Israeli government would have toeither fall or buy into the Labor plan inorder for it to be implemented. Sharoncould agree to it with one or two slightnuances including sharing the area andallowing Jews to pray there.

What do we know prophetically? Scrip-ture tells us that a third Temple must bebuilt. We know that there will not be apermanent agreement because, Matthew24:15-21, three and a half years after theconfirmation of the covenant, the GreatTribulation will begin in the area of theterritories.

The Arafat Chronicles Roadmap Declared Dead. The United

States and Israel have attempted to assignYasser Arafat to irrelevancy. However,Palestinians retain their allegiance toArafat especially in the wake of MahmoudAbbas’ Sept. 6 resignation. Because ofIsrael’s recent targeted assassinations ofHamas terrorist leaders, Arafat has con-tended that the Roadmap for Peace isdestroyed. The U.S. and the World Com-munity have invested tremendous politi-cal capital in the Roadmap. It is doubtfulthat they will allow Arafat to assign it tothe dustbin of history.

Exile Rile. In response to the latestwave of suicide bombing attacks in Israel,the Israeli cabinet announced its decisionto deport Arafat from Israel. Israel statedthat she would remove Arafat in her ownway and at a time of her choosing. OnSeptember 15, the United States vetoed aPalestinian-sponsored UN Security Coun-cil resolution specifically demanding thatIsrael not deport or threaten the safety of“elected” Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.News sources continually play upon thefact that Arafat is the “elected presidentof the Palestinian authority.” It is nevermentioned that Arafat ran unopposed inthat election.

Honoring Terrorists. Arafat and otherPalestinian leaders sponsored a fall soccermatch whose teams are named after sui-cide bombers. One in particular wasnamed after the suicide bomber thatkilled 30 Israeli men, women and chil-dren in a bus bombing. This move byArafat at a time when he is being intense-ly pressured to renounce the fight against

Tomost casual observers,this choice probably came as a surprise.To those in Israel, the reasons for choos-ing Wolfowitz were compelling.

It is Wolfowitz, not Bush, Powell orRumsfeld, who is seen by Israel as theman who instigated the removal of theirmost dangerous enemy, Saddam Hussein.Wolfowitz is the reason the United Statesinvaded Iraq, a move that has foreveraltered the texture of the Middle East.The Jewish state feels so much safer sinceSaddam Hussein is gone and Uncle Samnow occupies his land.

Those who study Bible prophecy, how-ever, may see Paul Wolfowitz in a differentlight.

The man and the visionBefore ascending to the post of Deputy

Secretary of Defense, Wolfowitz had heldmany critical posts over the previous 25years.

As a young Pentagon analyst in 1979,Wolfowitz repeatedly warned thenDefense Secretary Harold Brown of Iraq’spotential plans to invade Kuwait. Brownignored all of his warnings.

In 1992, nine years before 9/11, PaulWolfowitz wrote a document entitled“Defense Planning Guidance.” In the pol-icy paper, he encouraged the U.S. toadopt a preemptive strike philosophy, andsaid that Iraq and North Korea shouldbecome targets of the preemptive doc-trine. The document was considered tooradical, because it touted the doctrine ofunilateral military action and preemptivestrikes.

Because Wolfowitz’s ideas were consid-

ered too extreme, Dick Cheney, thenDefense Secretary, was asked to rewriteDefense Planning Guidance, making itmore acceptable to the world. It wasrepublished in 1993 under the title“Defense Strategy for the 1990’s.” Due toBush’s defeat in the 1992 election, thestrategy was never implemented.

In 1997, Wolfowitz authored anotherpaper entitled “Rebuilding America’sDefenses.” In it, he recycled the conceptsthat he had originally advocated in 1992,only this time the words were not softened.

He wrote, “Indeed the United States hasfor decades sought to play a more perma-nent role in Gulf regional security. Whilethe unresolved conflict with Iraq providesthe immediate justification, the need for asubstantial American force presence in theGulf transcends the issue of the regime ofSaddam Hussein.”

In 1998, Wolfowitz penned an open let-ter to President Clinton urging the over-throw of Saddam Hussein. The letter wassigned by Wolfowitz, current Secretary of

Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and others.President Clinton never acted on theadvice in the letter.

When George W. Bush was elected in2000, the group that advocated Wol-fowitz’s policies was ushered into power.Dick Cheney became vice-president, Don-ald Rumsfeld became Defense Secretary,and Paul Wolfowitz, the man with thevision, became his deputy—the numbertwo man at the Pentagon,.

Just four days after the 9/11 attacks onthe World Trade Center and Pentagon,President Bush declared war on terror-ism. On that same day, Wolfowitz statedthat regimes, which support terrorismshould be ended. Two days later, Wol-fowitz was at Camp David with other Bushadministration insiders pushing for theinvasion of Iraq. “Skip Kabul”(Afghanistan), he said. “Focus America’smilitary on Baghdad instead.”

World Order in America’s Image

Combining hawkish leanings ondefense and optimism towards Mideastdemocracy, Wolfowitz has always believedthat America must put its stamp on theworld. He contends that either Americawill change the world into its own imageor the world will change America into itsimage.

It is now an accomplished fact thatAmerican troops are stationed in Iraq andare on the borders of Iran, Syria, SaudiArabia, Jordan and Turkey. The man who,for years, saw the need for a sizeable U.S.military force in the Gulf, now has it.

lies ahead often enough to cause Presi-dent Bush to believe in him. Many peo-ple, including those at the Jerusalem Post,believe that if it were not for this oneman, U.S. troops would not be sitting inIraq today. Furthermore, if thingsimprove in Iraq and democracy sets in, itwill add even that much more to Wol-fowitz’s already high stature. It is rumoredthat he is poised to become the next Sec-retary of State should Colin Powell vacatethat post.

Many of President Bush’s statementscan be directly attributed to Wolfowitz,such as: “America will not permit theworld’s most dangerous regimes to threat-en us with the world’s most destructiveweapons,” and calling for “a new Arabcharter that champions internal reform,greater political participation, economicopenness and free trade.”

The plan that was begun in 1992 byWolfowitz has become the policy of theBush administration.

Sixth TrumpetWolfowitz stresses that, if the U.S. is to

put its stamp on this world and create anAmericanized New World Order of free-dom and democracy, it must control theMiddle East. Until then, America will con-tinue to be subject to blackmail by the oilcartel.

He also understands that the U.S. mustcontrol Southeast Asia. America’s num-ber one threat to supremacy in the 21stcentury is China, a nation whose GrossNational Product is projected to surpassthe United States’ sometime between2015 and 2020. It’s also a nation that isundergoing a dramatic military buildup.The U.S. is determined to prevent Chinafrom becoming a viable rival for worldleadership.

Many people are very pleased that Wol-fowitz has become such a tremendouslyinfluential force in the world. Others, onthe other hand, react to his power withfear.

Those who are familiar with Bibleprophecy, however, see that Wolfowitz’sideas, particularly those advocatingregime change in North Korea, couldlead to the massive war prophesied in Rev-elation 9:13-16 that will kill one-third ofmankind.

The man who said in 1992 that Iraqand North Korea would have to be dealtwith someday, appears to be in the dri-ver’s seat. As of today, one is down, andthe other is working on an illegal nuclearprogram.

According to the Jerusalem Post, “Israelhas long waited for an administration thatunderstands that the principal problemin the Middle East is not the unsettled sta-tus of our borders. It is the unsettlingnature of Arab regimes—and of the belli-cosity, fanaticism, and resentments towhich they give rise.”

In summary the article said, “Israel hasalso long waited for an administrationthat understands that the regimes thatthreaten Tel Aviv also threaten New York.”

The Jerusalem Post understands very wellthat the Bush administration’s actions inthe Middle East are due to Paul Wol-fowitz’s influence. It’s why they made himtheir Man of the Year.

But don’t forget—President Bush saidthe War on Terrorism would possibly lastfor ten years. If that proves to be true,there are eight years yet to go. e

Heart AttackIn late September, Arafat fell ill. Israel’s

recent decision to remove him from theland raised suspicions that he had beenpoisoned. However, his doctor ruled thatout, reporting that he was suffering fromintestinal flu. Specialists brought in fromJordan concluded that he was sufferingfrom exhaustion. However, a close aide toArafat has stated that he suffered a mildheart attack. Although the heart attackhas been widely reported, the Palestinianoffice continues to issue denials in aneffort to avoid panic among the Palestin-ian people.

Solano Visits, Abbas ResignsJavier Solano, the EU’s representative

to the Quartet, paid a visit to Israel andthe Palestinians. His stated purpose forvisiting was to put the Roadmap back ontrack after the break down of the cease-fire. Palestinian Prime Minister Mah-moud Abbas resigned shortly afterSolano’s visit.

Did Solano conclude that Abbas wassimply not the man for the job? The newprime minister, Ahmed Qureia, statedthat he may consult with the Quartetwhile putting together his new govern-ment. Is Qureia “Solano’s man”?

Fencing the Promised LandThe Israeli cabinet voted to continue

construction on the security fence that isdesigned to keep terrorists out of Israel’sborders. The U.S. expressed its displeas-ure with the decision to extend the fenceto include the city of Ariel (pop. about17,000). In a move to appease the U.S.,Israel announced that it would not buildthat portion of the fence at this time. Sol-diers will guard the gap in the structure.

Settlers living in Judea-Samaria (WestBank) are concerned that the fencedestroys their vision of a “greater Israel”.They believe that Israel should occupy allof the Promised Land as defined in scrip-ture. Much of it will remain outside thesecurity fence. Many believe a permanentborder between Israel and a new Palestin-ian state will be defined by the fence. Two-thirds of the Jewish settlers, about 150,000people, will be left on the Palestinian sideof the fence, or as settler spokesperson,

Eve Harow put it, “In the cage with theanimals.”Israel Bombs Terrorist Camp in Syria

For the first time in 20 years, Israellaunched a bombing raid inside of Syrianterritory, claiming that the target was anIslamic Jihad training camp located about30 miles from Damascus. Syria called anemergency meeting of the UN SecurityCouncil to condemn this invasion of hersovereignty. Israel says that she will goafter terrorism wherever it finds sanctu-ary. The U.S. has sided with Israel, sayingthat she had a right to attack the trainingbase of suicide bombers.

Russia Wants UN To MakeRoadmap Binding

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, YuriFedotov, stated that if Israel deports Yass-er Arafat, the action could lead to a seri-ous global crisis in the Middle East. Hesuggested that the UN Security Councilshould adopt a resolution making theU.S.-backed Roadmap an official UNSecurity Council resolution, that wouldbe binding upon all parties. Fedotov wasquoted as saying that making theRoadmap’s provisions mandatory, asopposed to being merely recommenda-tions, would help “get back on to the pathtoward the understanding that was

obtained before.”Such a UN resolution, now passed by

the Security Council, can be enforced bymilitary action on the part of the WorldCommunity. The Bible tells of an invasionof Israel at the time of Armageddon,which makes us wonder if this suggestionby Russia is a pre-cursor to that prophe-sied action. It’s all the more interestingthat Russia is the one proposing the reso-lution since Ezekiel 38 states that thechief prince of Meshech will lead the inva-sion of Israel at Armageddon by way ofSyria. Webster’s Third International Dic-tionary defines Meshech as the root wordfor Moscow.

UN Discusses Israel’s NukesThe International Atomic Energy

Agency (IAEA) discussed Israel’s nuclearcapabilities at a mid-September confer-ence in Vienna at the request of the ArabLeague. According to Ha’aretz news serv-ice, Israel is developing nuclear warheadsfor its submarines.

The World Community’s concern overIsrael’s nuclear capability is interesting inlight of Bible prophecy. Zechariah 14:12indicates that nuclear weapons will beused during the Battle of Armageddon.This almost certainly will be fulfilled byIsrael’s nuclear arsenal, which they callthe Sampson Option. e

ISRAEL IS BUILDING A SECURITY WALL.It is designed to keep her Arab enemiesfrom entering Jerusalem to terrorize hercitizens. The Jewish nation has finallysaid, “Enough is enough.”

Israel’s Arab neighbors bitterly opposethe building of the security wall. They areusing every means in their power to stopits construction—including appealing tothe organs of global governance. Theyknow that once the wall is completed,

Israel will begin to enjoy peace and secu-rity. The Arab goal is to drive Israel per-manently into the sea.

It sounds a lot like what is happening inthe Middle East today, doesn’t it? But it’snot. This is a different story. This storyhappened 2,600 years ago during the daysof Nehemiah.

A Very Interesting ParallelNebuchadnezzar had conquered the

land of Israel; Consequently, Nehemiahand his fellow Jews were carried away intoBabylonian captivity.

After a time, the Medes andthe Persians overthrew theempire of Babylon, replacing itwith the Media-Persian Empire.Nehemiah became one of themost trusted men in the court ofthe Persian King Artaxerxes. Hewas the king’s cupbearer. His jobwas to taste the king’s wine toensure that it hadn’t been poi-soned. He was obviously in aposition of ultimate trust.

In the second chapter of thebook of Nehemiah, we read ofthe day when Nehemiah wentbefore the king with a sad coun-tenance. He had never beforebeen down in the presence ofthe king. Artaxerxes inquiredconcerning why Nehemiah wasso sad. His reply is recorded inverse 3: “…why should not mycountenance be sad, when thecity, [Jerusalem] the place of myfathers' sepulchres, lieth waste,and the gates thereof are con-sumed with fire?”

King Artaxerxes lovedNehemiah very much for havingserved him faithfully for so long.He asked what he could do for

him. Nehemiah replied that he wanted togo back and rebuild the walls ofJerusalem. The king gave Nehemiah let-ters that would grant authorization forthe rebuilding and provide the materialsneeded for the project. The king evensent captains of the army and horsemenwith Nehemiah to accomplish the task.

After reaching Jerusalem and viewingthe devastation, Nehemiah told his com-panions, “…come, and let us build up thewall of Jerusalem, that we be no more areproach.”

As the construction progressed, Sanbal-lat and Tobiah became very angry that thepeople of Israel were fortifying them-selves. Sanballat was a Moabite and Tobi-ah was an Ammonite. Moabites are fromthe area of the Moab Mountains in Jor-dan. Ammonites are from Amman, Jor-dan. These were both Arabs who did notwant Jerusalem’s walls rebuilt. They false-ly accused Nehemiah and his companionsof rebelling against the king

For fifty-two days, the Jews worked dayand night to rebuild the wall. When San-ballat saw that he could not stop theconstruction, he sent the army of Samaria

to launch an attack against Nehemiahand his men. In spite of all this, the wallwas built.

That Was Then. What Today?Now... fast forward 2,600 years. Israel is building a security fence—a

250-mile security fence. Well, they call it afence, but really it’s a wall. The wall, nine-ty miles of which is now completed, stands25 feet high in many places. The purposeof the wall is to keep Arab terrorists fromentering Israel. Palestinians know that,once the wall is completed, they will losetheir number one weapon againstIsrael—terrorism. They know that Israelwill enjoy a level of security it has notexperienced since becoming a nation in1948. Consequently, they are fighting thewall’s construction every way they can.

In October 2003, a Palestinian suicidebomber murdered 22 people in a restau-rant in Haifa. No resolution was present-ed to the UN condemning this horribleattack. Yet when Israel, because of thedeadly attack, accelerated its plans tobuild its security fence, the Palestinianspresented a resolution to the UN SecurityCouncil aimed at shutting down the con-struction. Amazingly, the resolutionwould have passed had it not been vetoedby the United States.

Now, the same as 2600 years ago, theenemies of Israel are desperate to stop thebuilding of Israel’s security wall. Thestruggle to fortify Jerusalem in Nehemi-ah’s day ushered in the Second Templeera. The conflict we are witnessing todayover Israel’s security fence is ushering inthe Third Temple era.

Third Temple RevivalThe First Temple was built by Solomon

in 968 B.C. In 586 B.C., it was destroyeddue of Israel’s rebellion and disobedi-ence. Seventy years later, in Nehemiah’sday, the Second Temple era was born.Those alive and active during this erawere the likes of Daniel, Ezra, Zerubba-bel, Habakkuk and Zechariah. Throughtheir leadership and preaching, the peo-ple were motivated to revive the nationand to build the Second Temple.

A Third Temple revival is underway inthe land of Israel. The prophecy of theThird Temple is recorded in Ezekielchapter 37.

The Jewish nation, dramatically re-gath-ered after 2,000 years of national exile,

continues to evolve. The path of prophe-cy is leading to an inevitable collision withArmageddon. This coming battle isdescribed in Ezekiel 38-39 as well as in thelast three chapters of Zechariah.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup oftrembling unto all the people roundabout,” reads Zechariah 12:2-3, “whenthey shall be in the siege both againstJudah and against Jerusalem. And in thatday will I make Jerusalem a burdensomestone for all people: all that burden them-selves with it shall be cut in pieces, thoughall the people of the earth be gatheredtogether against it.”

Verses 7-9 tell of God’s plans forJerusalem: “The LORD also shall save thetents of Judah first, that the glory of thehouse of David and the glory of the inhab-itants of Jerusalem do not magnify them-selves against Judah. In that day shall theLORD defend the inhabitants ofJerusalem; and he that is feeble amongthem at that day shall be as David; and thehouse of David shall be as God, as theangel of the LORD before them. And itshall come to pass in that day, that I willseek to destroy all the nations that comeagainst Jerusalem.”

While there are those today who teachthat God is done with “the ethnic

Hebrew”, the Bible in fact teaches thatGod will once again turn to Israel to gath-er them back to Him. Romans 11:25-26says, “For I would not, brethren, that yeshould be ignorant of this mystery, lest yeshould be wise in your own conceits; thatblindness in part is happened to Israel,until the fulness of the Gentiles be comein. And so all Israel shall be saved.”

If God is to save the tents of Judah first,there will be a revival among the inhabi-tants of Judah before a revival in Israelproper. The Bible describes this latterrevival in Zechariah 13:9: “And I will bringthe third part through the fire, and willrefine them as silver is refined, and will trythem as gold is tried: they shall call on myname, and I will hear them: I will say, It is

my people: and they shall say, TheLORD is my God.”

Israel is in a revival. The building ofthe Third Temple will be a part ofthat revival. However, in the midst ofit all, the participants won’t fullyunderstand what they are a part ofuntil they realize who Jesus Christ is.When that momentous day arrives,they will look upon His face and say,“Blessed is he that cometh in thename of the Lord.”

As the building of the wall was apart of the Second Temple revival,the building of Israel’s security fenceis a part of the Third Temple era. Theevents that we are presently witness-ing will culminate with the Battle ofArmageddon and the Second Com-ing of Jesus Christ.

Over the last three years, 1,200 peoplehave been killed in Israel due to Palestin-ian terrorist attacks. Comparing Israel’s4.75 million Jewish population to a U.S.population of 290 million, this would bethe equivalent of 73,000 terrorist murdersin the states. It took only 3,000 deaths onSeptember 11th to motivate the Bushadministration to turn the world upsidedown looking for the responsible parties—a few manhunts and two wars... so far.

Does Israel need the security? A goodcase can be made for it, and the fence maybe a good part of the answer. No one cancross through it without going through acheckpoint and passing many rigorousqualifications. When and if it is complet-ed, the new wall will effectively separatethe Palestinian populace from the nationof Israel.

Today, as in Nehemiah’s day, security isthe issue. And the enemies are the same!Moabites, Ammonites and other Arabswarred against Nehemiah. The wall wasbuilt between attacks. History does havethis strange habit of repeating itself.

Today, Israel is in the process of buildinganother wall while dodging bullets anddiplomatic hand grenades. The Arabs haveattacked with suicide bombings, missilesand potentially the most dangerousweapon, the world community. But whilethe UN has tried to force its will upon theplace where God chose to place His name,God is using a powerful eagle, the U.S.A.,to exercise its veto power defending Israel’sright to safety and security... defending itsvery right to exist. e

Pope May Have Intestinal Cancer

It is rumored that Pope John Paul II hasintestinal cancer. The Vatican is not deny-ing the rumor. A Vatican official recentlyrequested prayer for the pope stating thathe is “bad off.” A meeting for cardinalsnormally held in February was moved upto October at the pope’s insistence. Thepope has been canceling many meetingsand appearances. These factors indicatethat the 83-year old pontiff is nearing theend of his life.

The election of a new pope is ofextreme prophetic significance at thistime. If we are nearing the beginning ofthe Antichrist's reign, then the new popewho will be elected upon John Paul II’sdemise could very likely be the FalseProphet himself. Scripture teaches thatwhoever is pope at the time of theAntichrist will be the false prophet. We’llbe watching.

Pope Installs 31 New Cardinals

Pope John Paul II elevated 31 new car-dinals of the Roman Catholic Church,most of whom will be charged with elect-ing his successor. His voice weak, the popedid not attempt to recite his homily, andfor the first time, did not place the cere-monial red biretta on each cardinal's head,as is the Church’s tradition—a furtherindication of his declining mobility due toParkinson's disease.

The Bible prophesies an endtimerebirth of the Holy Roman Empire, and aVatican that is very closely aligned with aone-world government. The current popehas appointed all but a small handful ofcardinals—the body that will be selecting

his successor. It appears that John Paul II’sinfluence on world affairs will continuewell beyond his death.

Episcopalians Hold Landmark Summit on Gay Priests

Leaders of the Episcopalian (Anglican)church held a 2-day meeting in LambethPalace, London, where the Anglican Com-munion was formed. Anglican leaderRowan Williams finds himself undertremendous pressure to expel the Ameri-can Episcopalian church and to recognizeconservatives as the true Anglicans inNorth America.

Conservatives worldwide have con-demned the sanctioning of same-sexunions by the diocese of New Westminsterin Vancouver, Columbia. Condemningthese moves as unbiblical, they have threat-ened to split the Communion if Williamsdoesn’t discipline the North Americans.

The conservative church of Nigeria,home to 17.5 million Anglicans and theCommunion’s 2nd largest province, hassevered ties with the diocese in Vancouver,and parishioners there who oppose homo-sexual relationships have been fasting andpraying.

EU Founding Father onRoad to Sainthood

The Polish Catholic News Agencyreports that the former head of the Frenchgovernment and president of the Euro-pean Parliament, Robert Schuman, is onthe path to beatification. An investigationinto his nomination for a sainthood is dueto conclude by the end of this year.

That the founder of a political organiza-tion would be considered for sainthood bythe Catholic Church is extremely interest-

ing in light of Daniel 2 which prophesiesthat there will be an endtime revival of theHoly Roman Empire.

Kofi Annan’s World Citizens

At a September 12 ceremony markingthe 1st Annual Interdependence Day (youread that right—”Inter”dependence), UNSecretary General Kofi Annan said thatwith forces of globalization and interde-pendence on the rise, citizens of nationstates must also act as global citizens inorder for the UN to be able to functioneffectively.

It is ironic that “Interdependence Day”would be held in Philadelphia, home to“Independence Hall,” which was built in1732 and became a symbol of the nation tocome. For those keeping score, interde-pendence is the opposite of Independence.

North Korea Says It’sMaking Atom Bombs

North Korea announced that it has com-pleted reprocessing its 8,000 spent nuclearfuel rods and is using plutonium extractedfrom them to make atomic bombs. NorthKorea claims that it is taking these “practi-cal measures” to boost its nuclear weaponsprogram as a deterrent against what it callsa U.S. plan to invade.

EU Proposes Double Vetoat UN General Assembly

The European Union proposed achange in the veto policy of the SecurityCouncil, suggesting that a double veto berequired instead of the single vetopresently exercised by the U.S. GreatBritain, France, Russia and China.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary General KofiAnnan is calling for the expansion ofmembership on the UN Security Councilto make the 15-member body more demo-cratic and representative of the nations ofthe world. He states that this would givethe Security Council more legitimacy inlight of recent division over Iraq.

Each time Security Council reform is dis-cussed the calls for abolishment for vetopower are loudly heard from certain circles.

It is highly unlikely that the U.S. wouldaccept such changes since she has had towield her veto repeatedly in order to saveIsrael from UN condemnation and inva-sion. However, the eventual acceptance ofthe EU proposal could explain how theWorld Community will be able to invadeIsrael for the Battle of Armageddon asprophesied in Zechariah 14:2.

Disguised as watches, mobile phonesand belts, tracking units to monitor chil-dren and teenagers have hit Australia tothe outrage of civil libertarians and par-ent groups. The Global Positioning Sys-tem (GPS) tracking devices have an emer-gency alarm button and software so par-ents can zoom in on a child's whereaboutsusing a home computer. Prices start as lowas $600.

Stunned by the kidnapping of ateenage girl, the rural Japanese city ofMurakami plans to use a satellite-linkedtracking system to help parents find theirchildren. They have asked two securitycompanies to provide the service for thefamilies of 2,700 elementary and juniorhigh school students.

The Pasco County, Florida Sheriff'soffice kicked off a monitoring programfor nine prisoners who were selected forrelease to await their court dates at homerather than in jail, on the condition theywear ankle monitors equipped with GPS.

Bork Says World Law is Controlling U.S. Law

Retired Judge Robert Bork observedthat Supreme Court Justices have startedciting foreign sources to justify the waythey rule on U.S. cases. Bork said that theinternationalization of law is, in his opin-ion, alarming and farther along than wethink. Supreme Court Justices have falleninto the habit of quoting a decision made

by the World Court in international casesin order to justify their decisions at thefederal level.

Believers in one world governmenthave long advocated a system of WorldCourts that would ultimately enforceglobal law on a worldwide basis.

International ControlTightens on Iran’sNuclear Program

The UN’s IAEA has heightened thepressure on Iran calling on it to give fulldisclosure of its nuclear facilities andcapabilities to prove that it has no secretweapons program. If Iran does not capit-ulate to the UN in this matter, the IAEAwill likely refer the matter to the UNSecurity Council for possible diplomaticor economic sanctions.

Iran has admitted that weapons-gradeuranium has been found on its soil, butargued they came from abroad. Israel isconsidering a military strike to destroyIran's suspected nuclear weapons pro-gram. Iran is warning them not to.

Rabbis Back Israeli‘Guard Pigs’

A West Bank rabbinical council hasgiven a group called the Hebrew Battal-ion their approval to train pigs to guardJewish settlements. The settlements havebeen guarded by men with guns, and byguard dogs. According to Battalion head,Kuti Ben-Yaakov, “This animal is consid-ered to be dangerous by Islam, and,according to the Muslim faith, a terroristwho touches a pig is not eligible for the 70virgins in heaven.”

Although the pig is considered anunclean animal under Jewish law, DanielShilo of the Yesha Rabbinical Council stat-ed, “It's clear that in a case like this, theban that was imposed on raising pigs inthe land of Israel doesn't apply.”

In a bold move, the Bush administra-tion has given the green light for Con-gress to approve economic sanctionsagainst Syria, who is sure to view this asa serious escalation against her.The threat of a nuclear exchangebetween Pakistan and India was intensi-

fied by the news that Pakistan had againtested missiles capable of carryingnuclear weapons to India’s capital, NewDelhi.Israel is serious about keeping the Tem-ple Mount open for all visitors. Sincebeing opened to Christians and Jewsrecently, thousands have now visitedalmost without incident. One Muslimcleric was heard inciting people to riseup against the visits. He was arrested byIsraeli police and banished from theTemple Mount for 60 days.Malaysia will start manufacturing theworld's smallest microchip, which canbe embedded in everything from cur-rency to human bodies. The size of adot, it uses the radio frequency identifi-cation (RFID) chip technology, andcosts less than 10 cents. With pressure from the U.S. and Israel,the historically pro-Palestinian Euro-pean Union finally declared Hamas tobe a terrorist organization.The genocide portion of the Milosevictrial at the Hague opened in late Sep-tember. The German Evangelical Church isretranslating the Bible in gender-neu-tral terms, rewriting passages seen todiscriminate against women, using“unbiased and unjust” language.Canada passed a controversial bill thatwill criminalize public expressionagainst homosexual behavior. It addssexual orientation as a protected cate-gory in Canada's genocide and hate-crimes legislation, and carries a penaltyof up to five years in prison.A Belgian court finally threw out warcrime cases against former U.S. Presi-dent George Bush and Israeli PrimeMinister Ariel Sharon.First Lady Laura Bush honored theU.S.’ return to UNESCO after a nearly20-year absence. Swedish voters, fearing a loss of sover-eignty and being dominated byEurope’s big powers such as Germanyand France, voted 59% to 41% to rejectSweden’s adoption of Europe’s curren-cy, the Euro.Earlier in November, in the FrenchAlps, four Israelis and four Palestiniansengaged in a week of high-altitudemountain climbing in preparation foran upcoming peace mission to Antarc-tica called “Breaking the Ice”. Thegroup were slated to climb a virgin6,600-foot peak and to name it the“Summit of Peace.” e

History Behind the DoctrinePreterism was first advanced in 1604 by

Roman Catholic Jesuit Luis de Alcasar todestroy the Reformed Protestant teachingthat the papacy was Mystery Babylon, theGreat Whore and the historicalAntichrist.

According to the 19th century Biblecommentator Barnes, the Jesuits felt thatProtestantism was winning the battle overRoman Catholicism by depicting Rome asthe Great Harlot Church. Consequently,they attempted to counteract the Protes-tant Reformed teaching by propoundingthe preterist approach to the book ofRevelation.

The Major Scriptural Problems

The doctrine of preterism rises or fallson the teaching that all of the events ofthe book of Revelation were fulfilled by 70AD. Following is a partial list of prophe-cies in Revelation that have clearly not yetbeen fulfilled.

1. Revelation 9:15-16 prophesies a warthat will kill one-third part of men... Thishas not yet happened in all of history. Itmust be future.

2. Revelation 11:1-2 says that Jerusalemwill be trodden down of the Gentiles for42 months prior to the Second Coming...This didn’t happen in 70 AD. TheRomans simply destroyed Jerusalem.

There was no occupation.3. Revelation 11:3-12 describes the min-

istry of two witnesses that will prophesyduring the 1,260 days of the great tribula-tion. They will then be killed and threeand one-half days later rise from thedead... Nothing like this happened in 70AD.

4. Revelation 13 describes a time whenevery person on earth will be required tohave a number in order to buy or sell...This has never happened in all of history.

5. Revelation 13 prophesies the comingof the False Prophet who will pull downfire from heaven in the sight of men. Hewill deceive the world into following theAntichrist by means of those miracles thathe has the power to do... Where is theaccount of this in history?

6. Revelation 16:12 states that theEuphrates River will be dried up to makeway for the kings of the east to invadeIsrael at the Battle of Armageddon... TheEuphrates did not dry up in 70 AD.

7. Revelation 20:1-6 teaches that Satanwill be bound for 1,000 years at the timeof the first resurrection... Preterism teach-es that the first resurrection occurred in70 AD. However, the 1,000-year bindingof Satan has obviously not yet occurred.

Core Teaching: Who is the “he”?

The core teaching of preterism is thatthe confirmation of the covenant spoken

of in Daniel 9:27 was fulfilled by the min-istry of Jesus Christ, and has nothing to dowith a coming Antichrist. Preterists alsocontend that it was Jesus who stopped thedaily sacrifice by the sacrifice of Himselfon Calvary. It then follows that there is nogap between the 69th week of Daniel’sprophecy and the 70th week. Thus the70th week has already been fulfilled.

If Jesus is not the one who confirmedthe covenant, stopped the daily sacrificeand placed the abomination of desolationin Daniel 9:27, then the entire teaching ofpreterism is invalidated. So the pivotalquestion becomes, who is the “he” whoconfirms the covenant?

Notice that the same “he” who is to con-firm the covenant in Daniel 9:27 is also totake away the daily sacrifice and to placethe Abomination of Desolation.

“And he shall confirm the covenantwith many for one week: and in the midstof the week he shall cause the sacrificeand the oblation to cease, and for theoverspreading of abominations he shallmake it desolate, even until the consum-mation, and that determined shall bepoured upon the desolate.”

Daniel 11:30-31 tells us in no uncertainterms that it is the Antichrist (the king ofthe north) and his followers who takeaway the daily sacrifice and place theabomination of desolation.

“For the ships of Chittim shall comeagainst him: therefore he shall be grieved,and return, and have indignation againstthe holy covenant: so shall he do; he shalleven return, and have intelligence with

?Recently there has been a renaissanceof the doctrine of preterism. The wordpreterism means past. Essentially, preterists believethat the prophecies of the Bible have all been fulfilled.Full preterists teach that all the prophecies, including the Second Coming, were fulfilled by 70 AD. Partialpreterists believe all the prophecies of the book of Revelation have been fulfilled up through Revelation 19..

them that forsake the holy covenant. Andarms shall stand on his part, and theyshall pollute the sanctuary of strength,and shall take away the daily sacrifice, andthey shall place the abomination thatmaketh desolate.”

This passage is obviously not referringto the Messiah. Would the Messiah ever“have indignation against the holycovenant?” Would heever “pollute the sanctu-ary of strength?” Obvi-ously not! The entiretyof Daniel 11:21-45 is dis-cussing the actions ofthe king of the north —the Antichrist.

So we can see clearlythat it is the Antichrist,not the Messiah, whotakes away the daily sac-rifice and places theabomination of desola-tion.

Remember that theone who takes away thedaily sacrifice also is theone who confirms thecovenant according toDaniel 9:27. So we knowfor certain that it is theAntichrist, not the Mes-siah, who will confirmthe covenant for sevenyears. Daniel 11:22strengthens this proofwhen it calls the king ofthe north (the Antichrist) the “prince ofthe covenant.”

This one core issue totally destroys thefoundation of the preterist position.

This Generation Shall Not Pass

In Matthew 24:34, Jesus said, “Verily Isay unto you, this generation shall notpass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

Preterists contend that Jesus taught inMatthew 24 that the generation to whichHe was speaking would not pass until allof the prophecies of that chapter were ful-filled. Of course, that would include theprophecy of the Lord’s Second Comingand the gathering of the elect from thefour winds of heaven (verses 30-31).

However, that is not what the passageteaches. In verses 32-34, Jesus said, “Nowlearn a parable of the fig tree; When hisbranch is yet tender, and putteth forth

leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: Solikewise ye, when ye shall see all thesethings, know that it is near, even at thedoors. Verily I say unto you, this genera-tion shall not pass, till all these things befulfilled.”

Jesus was saying that, when we see thefig tree putting forth its leaves, then weknow that summer is near. Likewise, when

we see the signs given in Matthew 24, thenwe will know that the generation that wit-nesses these things (such as the abomina-tion of desolation) will not pass until all ofthe prophecy is fulfilled.

Judgment of Jerusalem in 70 AD was the SecondComing

In order to teach that all of the prophe-cies of Matthew 24 were fulfilled by 70 AD,preterism must give an explanation of theSecond Coming described in verses 30-31:“And then shall appear the sign of the Sonof man in heaven: and then shall all thetribes of the earth mourn, and they shallsee the Son of man coming in the cloudsof heaven with power and great glory. Andhe shall send his angels with a great soundof a trumpet, and they shall gather togeth-er his elect from the four winds, from oneend of heaven to the other.”

The explanation given is that Jesuscoming in the clouds is symbolic of Jesuscoming in judgment. It is contended thatthe judgment of Jerusalem in 70 AD wasthe Second Coming of Matthew 24.

However, there is a fatal flaw to thisteaching. Revelation 1:7 describes thiscoming in the clouds: “Behold, hecometh with clouds; and every eye shall

see him, and they also which pierced him:and all kindreds of the earth shall wailbecause of him. Even so, Amen.”

This passage states that at the SecondComing in the clouds every eye shall seeHim. Did every eye see Him in 70 AD?Obviously not.

Great Whore of Revelation17 is Jerusalem, Not Rome

Both full and partial preterists teachthat Revelation 1-19 was fulfilled by thedestruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. How-ever, Revelation 17-18 describes the judg-ment of the Roman Catholic Church ingreat detail. Since the Roman Church didnot yet exist in 70 AD, it is obvious thatthe doctrine of preterism is wrong.

In order to explain away this problem,preterist proponents say that the great harlot,Mystery Babylon, is Jerusalem, not Rome.

doctrine because it exonerates her of oneof the Bible’s most severe indictments.However, to say that Revelation 17 refersto Jerusalem ignores the clues given to usabout the identity of the great harlot.

Revelation 17 says the woman is a citythat sits on seven mountains. Rome, notJerusalem, is known around the world asthe City of Seven Hills. Revelation 17:4states that the woman was arrayed in pur-ple and scarlet (red). The two ruling bod-ies of the Roman Catholic Church areofficially clothed in purple and red. The Man of Sinin the Temple?

II Thessalonians 2:3-4 teaches that theman of sin, the son of perdition, will sit inthe temple of God, claiming to be God.Who is this man of sin that sits in the tem-ple and when did it happen?

Futurists teach that the man of sin isthe coming Antichrist. Preterists say that

it refers to the Roman emperor Nero.However, Nero never even entered thetemple. This prophecy of II Thessaloni-ans has obviously not happened yet. Thisis another strong proof that the doctrineof preterism is not true.

Men Shall Learn War No More

Micah 4:3 prophesies of the 1,000-yearmillennial reign of Christ: “...and theyshall beat their swords into plowshares,and their spears into pruninghooks:nation shall not lift up a sword againstnation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

If all prophecies are past, when did thenations disarm and learn war no more?This has obviously not happened yet.

Closing ThoughtsAs you can see, there are a multitude of

problems with the doctrine of preterism.I am sure that many proponents of thisdoctrine sincerely believe it to be true.However, the scriptural contradictionsare glaring.

In Daniel 12:9, God told Daniel thatthe understanding of the Bible’s prophe-

cies would be sealed until the time of theend. Why did God decree in 600 BC thatprophetic understanding would be“closed up” until the “time of the end?”The only conceivable explanation is thatHe wanted to place endtime prophecy inthe hands of the endtime church for thepurpose of igniting one last great end-time revival.

The teaching of preterism destroys thisstated plan of God for the times in whichwe now live by teaching that the Bible’sprophecies have nothing to do with ustoday. Consequently, preterism runscounter to God’s expressed intention forendtime revival. Therefore, it should notbe believed or taught.

Preterism, the belief that all prophecies havebeen fulfilled, is not biblical. Unfortunately,most Christians, including most ministers,don’t know how to refute its claims.
