1. Study the vedas (sacred books) daily.2. Perform your duties according to
them.3. Dedicate all your actions as worship of
the God.4. Renounce all the desires in the mind.5. Wash away the hoards of sins in the
bosom.6. Recognize that the pleasures of sense
objects are riddled with pain.
7. Seek the self with consistent endeavour.
8. Escape from the bondage of home.9. Seek companionship with Men-of-
Wisdom.10. Be established in firm devotion to
the God.11. Cultivate virtues such as Shanti
(calming mind).12. Avoid all desire-ridden actions.
13. surrender to a perfect Master.14. Daily serve his sandals (devotion he preaches)
15. Worship daily.16. Listen, in depth, the sacred declarations.
17. Constantly reflect upon the meaning of the sacred commandments.
18. And take refuge in the truth of true self.
19. Avoid perverse arguments.20. Certainly follow the discriminative
rationale (constructive discussion)21. Be absorbed in the attitude: “I am
Brahman” (timeless true self).22. Renounce pride.23. Give up the idea: “I am the body”.24. Give up the arguments with the wise.
25. Hunger and disease, get treated.26. Daily take the medicine of food.27. Say no delicious food.28. Contentedly live upon whatever comes to your lot, as ordained by God.
29. Endure all pairs of opposites: joy and sorrow etc..
30. Avoid wasteful talks.
31. Be indifferent. (inner balance)32. Save yourself from other peoples’ kindness (this may chain you down)
33. In solitude live joyously.34. Quieten the mind in the supreme lord.
35. Realize and see the all pervading self everywhere.
36. Recognize that the finite world is a projection of the self.
37. Conquer the effects of deeds done in earlier lives by the present right actions.
38. Through wisdom become detached from future karmas.
39. Experience and exhaust the past actions that have started prarabdham (suffer the in silent dignity with shameless courage and patient heroism)
40. There after in all his actions, feelings and thoughts realized that the true self within himself-is fully awakened to the infinite state Divine, and so has reached his immutable goal.
