A presentation to high school Sunday school about how we can glorify God through music. Also, I challenged them to be selective in what they play through their ears and think about "is it ok to listen to secular music?"

Warm Up Debate
Do lyrics influence our minds?i.e. Is it OK to listen to a song just for the “music” or melody but not the words?

ALM Does anyone have a psalm to share? (Perhaps a favorite one or one that is
speaking to you right now?)
God wants us to use music to lift Him on high and encourage one another.
Secular Music
What about the music the world is listening to?
Luke 6:45
"The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."
Samantha’s Testimony
In the end…
Are we glorifying God with what is entering through our ears?
Also…
Are we glorifying God with the songs on our lips?
But secular music can be used for good!
19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
-1st Corinthians 9:19-23
God loves music! It is all for Him!
