10 Am I now trying to win the
approval of human beings, or of God?
Or am I trying to please people? If I
were still trying to please people, I
would not be a servant of Christ.
11 I want you to know, brothers and
sisters, that the gospel I preached is
not of
Galatians 1:10-24
human origin. 12 I did not receive it
from any man, nor was I taught it;
rather, I received it by revelation from
Jesus Christ.
13 For you have heard of my
previous way of life in Judaism, how
intensely I persecuted the church of
God and tried to destroy it. 14 I
Galatians 1:10-24
was advancing in Judaism beyond
many of my own age among my
people and was extremely zealous for
the traditions of my fathers. 15 But
when God, who set me apart from my
mother’s womb and called me by his
grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his
Son in me so that IGalatians 1:10-24
might preach him among the
Gentiles, my immediate response was
not to consult any human being. 17 I
did not go up to Jerusalem to see
those who were apostles before I
was, but I went into Arabia. Later I
returned to Damascus. Galatians 1:10-24
18 Then after three years, I went up
to Jerusalem to get acquainted with
Cephas and stayed with him fifteen
days. 19 I saw none of the other
apostles—only James, the Lord’s
brother. 20 I assure you before
God that what I am writing you is no
lie.Galatians 1:10-24
21 Then I went to Syria and
Cilicia. 22 I was personally unknown to
the churches of Judea that are in
Christ. 23 They only heard the report:
“The man who formerly persecuted us
is now preaching the faith he once
tried to destroy.”24 And they praised
God because of me.Galatians 1:10-24
If someone else thinks they have reasons
to put confidence in the flesh, I have
more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of
the people of Israel, of the tribe of
Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in
regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for
zeal, persecuting the church; as for
righteousness based on the law, faultless.Philippians 3:4-6

57 At this they covered their ears and,
yelling at the top of their voices, they
all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out
of the city and began to stone
him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid
their coats at the feet of a young man
named Saul. Acts 7:57-58
9 For I am the least of the apostles and do
not even deserve to be called an apostle,
because I persecuted the church of
God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I
am, and his grace to me was not without
effect. No, I worked harder than all of
them—yet not I, but the grace of God that
was with me.1 Corinthians 15:9-

24 Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus
one. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted
with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night
and a day in the open sea, 26 I have been constantly on the
move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from
bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from
Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in
danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. 27 I have
labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have
known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I
have been cold and naked. 28 Besides everything else, I face
daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches.2 Corinthians 11:24-28
