Euphrates River to Be Dried Up üIn revelatIon 16:12, the Bible predicts that the euphrates river will be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle of Armageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle during which Jesus will return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in His one-thousand year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline “Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month.” The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900-year-old prophecy are now in place.

China Goes to War üIn revelatIon 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which will kill “the third part of men.” Never in the history of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However, the late ruler of China Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbook reported that in the year 2001 it was estimated that China had 200,866,946 men of military age and that this number is growing by 10 million per year.

Worldwide Numbering System Predicted üIn revelatIon 13, the Bible prophesies that a world dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people on the earth to receive a number without which they will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly every human being in the world has now been assigned a number. In America, it is our Social Security number. In the past few years, we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependent on an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people actually urging the abolition of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.

The Emergence of a New World Order ürevelatIon 13:7 and danIel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term “New World Order” has become a prevalent phrase in the world’s political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II referred to it repeatedly. In the September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, “Iraq is the first test for the New World Order.” He emphatically stated that the Iraq War was Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations’ troops are continually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community of nations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this government is at hand.

On June 25, 2006, Palestinian terrorists slipped into Israel through a tunnel, killing two Israeli soldiers and capturing Cor-poral Gilad Shalit. A little over two weeks later, Hezbollah terror-ists came across the Israeli-Lebanese border, killing eight Israeli soldiers and kidnapping Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.

Israel reacted to the kidnappings by attacking Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south. Both terrorist organizations had steadfastly refused to recognize Israel’s right to exist and had set the destruction of Israel as their goal. Apparently, Israel felt the time had come to remove these two forces with which negotiating was not possible.

Though the media has largely painted the outcome of the war as a victory for Hezbollah, the fact is that it was Hezbollah and Lebanon that were begging for a ceasefire toward the war’s end, and it was Israel that was on the offensive till the very last moment of the implementation of the UN ceasefire. So what really happened in this war, and what will the long-term implications be?

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that Israel would not agree to a cease-fire until its two soldiers were liberated and Hezbollah was disarmed. However, Israel did accept the ceasefire, even though she did not get her soldiers back and Hezbollah was not disarmed. As a result of this failure, Olmert is weakened and many question if his government can survive.

Furthermore, the 4,000 rocket attacks on northern Israel shocked the nation. Prior to the war, Olmert’s realignment plan had enjoyed the support of a major-ity of Israelis. Now the thought of Iranian-made rockets in the hands of Hamas within range of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and every major Jewish population center has made withdrawal from the West Bank totally unacceptable. As a result, Ol-mert has been forced to announce that unilateral withdrawal, the main plank in his governments program, is no longer on the table.

The most critical impact of the war on the future is the stationing of in-ternational troops all along Israel’s northern border. If they are successful in securing the peace there, it could certainly set a precedent for establishing inter-national troops between Israel and the Palestinians when final borders between the two are determined. It will also seem logical to place the Temple Mount under UN supervision when the status of Jerusalem is finally dealt with. This ultimate outcome is prophesied in the Bible.

Since the Bible specifically states that all nations will invade Israel at the time of Armageddon (Zechariah 14:2), the stationing of international troops on Is-rael’s borders, which Olmert vigorously lobbied for, will prove to be the worst thing that could possibly have happened. If Olmert had as much faith in God as he has in the world community, he would not have allowed Israel to be placed in this terrible situation.

reply| The bombardment of Israel by 4,000 rockets from Hezbollah has forced Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to put his unilateral withdrawal plans on hold. Visions of rockets raining on all of Israel’s cities from the West Bank have turned the Israeli public against the plan. Some world leaders say the time has arrived for a resumption of peace talks among the parties of the Middle East. France’s Jacque Chirac has called for a meeting of the Quartet, the four-power entity that originally produced the peace plan called the Roadmap for Peace. It is obvious that we are nearing the confirmation of the covenant. It will be interesting to see how we end up getting there.

* Parable of the fig treeHopefully you can help me. When I was a child I was taken to listen to several proph-ecy speakers including Mr. Baxter. I once heard a sermon speaking about Israel be-coming a nation and a reference to a gen-eration not passing until God would return. Are you familiar with this teaching and, if so, where is the scripture text relating to this topic.

reply| I am familiar with the teaching to which you refer. I don’t believe the scrip-tures mean what the proponents of this teaching say they mean.

The scripture is Matthew 24:32-35, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be ful-filled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Some say that the fig tree is Israel. They claim that the budding of the fig tree is the rebirth of Israel as a nation in 1948. For a while they taught that a generation was 40 years. However, when the rapture didn’t happen by 1988, some decided that a generation was 70 years. The fact is that nothing in the Bible says that Israel is the fig tree. That’s a made-up theory.

What was Jesus really saying? He simply said that when we see a tree budding, we know that summer is near. Likewise, when we see the prophecies he gave us in Mat-thew 24 beginning to come to pass, then know that that generation would not pass until all things are fulfilled. All these things include the rapture. Can we see these things beginning to come to pass now? Yes. We can see preparations being made for the building of Israel’s temple, for the sharing of the Temple Mount and for the time of tribulation in the West Bank. Are we then the generation that will see the Sec-ond Coming? I believe we are.

reply| Way back in the 1970’s, the Club of Rome commissioned the writing of a book entitled, “Mankind at the Turning Point.” In this book, the world was divided up into ten regions. The area of the North American Union (Canada, the U.S. and Mexico) was one of those regions. The theory was that each of these regions could unite economi-cally, and then the ten regions could merge into one global economic union.

It appears that the North American Union is following this blueprint put forward by the Club of Rome thirty years ago. If this is the case, then this is world government in the making. I tend to believe this is true since part of the North American Union plan is to defend the exterior border of all three na-tions combined, not the exterior border of the United States.

The tremendous outcry concerning the defense of U.S. borders may be forcing the government to change its approach. Time will tell.

* a road not yet traveledIf our property is paid off and we are liv-ing on it without taking the mark, what do you think will happen when it comes time to pay the annual property tax? Since we cannot buy or sell without the mark, do you think we can pay our property tax in gold? Or will our property be taken from us?

reply| It’s not easy to answer some of these questions since we have not traveled this road before. I have thought about the possibility of paying property taxes in advance when we know that the time of the great tribulation is upon us. I don’t know whether that would actually be possible or not.

ticipate Christians selling assets so that we could use the money for one great evangelistic thrust. This happened in the book of Acts. The Bible says that the Christians sold houses and lands, laying the money at the Apostles feet, so that it could be used for the furthering of the gospel. I believe we will see this again during the last few years before the Second Coming.

I’d rather use my resources to help people get saved than allow the Antichrist to have them, wouldn’t you? I believe God will give us the guidance we need as this time approaches.

* 12th chaPter of revelationI wanted to ask you about the dragon who was attempting to destroy the male child born from the woman with the wings of an eagle. I cannot make sense of this piece of prophecy but last night while reading, I was really trying to get my mind around this. I have referred back to Ezekiel, Isaiah and Daniel to get an idea. The whole scenario is set up in Revelation 12:13. My personal take on this is that this would be somehow related to the US and that is about all that I can understand.

Could you perhaps shed some light on this issue either in a previously pub-lished article or even on your show? I will download and listen to the answer tomorrow if you answer it today. Thank you for your time.

reply| This 12th chapter of Revelation covers a period of 2,000 years. The woman is Israel. The twelve stars around her head represent the twelve tribes of Israel. This same imagery was used to depict the nation of Israel in the dream of Joseph (Genesis 37:9).

The child that was born, which the devil tried to destroy was Jesus. Herod the Great attempted to kill Jesus as a baby by killing all of the male children two years of age and down in the area of Bethlehem. Ultimately, Jesus was caught up to God and His throne just like the scripture says. Satan then went to make war with the woman Israel.

The prophecy then makes a quantum leap forward. In Revelation 12:7, there is a war in heaven. Satan and his angels fight against the armies of heaven led by Michael the archangel. Satan is then banished from access to heaven where, until this time, he has been the accuser of the brethren. In Revelation 12:10 a loud voice said, “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the king-dom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” This takes place three and one-half years before the Second Coming.

We know this because verse 12 says, “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Satan then persecutes the woman (Israel) for time, times and half a time—three and one-half years. This speaks of the time of the great tribulation. n

1The final seven years will begin when the Antichrist and the international community give their support to Israel’s right to exist in the land promised to Abraham by God. This is called the confirmation of the covenant (Daniel 9:27 & Genesis 15:18).

3 The West Bank (Judea) in Israel will become a place of great tribulation (Matthew 24:15-21).

4 The Temple Mount in Jerusalem will be placed under a sharing arrangement between Jew and Gentile (Revelation 11:1-2).

1Israeli Prime Minister has openly stated that the number one goal of his administration is to obtain the

support of the international community for israel’s final borders. He hopes to achieve this by the end of 2008.

2 Most of the Euphrates River is in Iraq. The United States has 140,000 troops stationed

along the euPhrates at this time. The conflict between the U.S. and Islamic Fundamentalism is not diminishing, but increasing around the world.

3Ehud Olmert has openly said that he will withdraw from the West Bank (Judea) by the end of 2008.

Then, recently, he announced that his convergence-withdrawal plan is off — “no longer relevant.” Whether or not Israel withdraws, the prophecy is clear that there will be slaughter in Judea.

believed this is the only possible solution to the Temple Mount dispute whenever the issue is finally resolved.

The Bible prophesies the establishment of a world government in the last days just be-fore Jesus Christ returns to earth. This world government will be led by one called the An-tichrist, who will attempt to force everyone in the world to take the Mark of the Beast described in Revelation 13.

The prophecies clearly identify the prin-cipal nations that will form the prophesied world government. We can identify several of those nations today, demonstrating our nearness to the second coming of Jesus.

In Daniel 7, the symbols are amazingly precise. Look carefully:

1. Daniel saw a lion. That is the symbol of modern Great Britain.

2. The lion had eagle’s wings which were plucked. Today, the most powerful nation on earth is symbolized by an eagle: the United States. The prophecy described the United States growing out of the lion, Great Britain. The U.S. eagle’s wings were plucked from Great Britain when the Declaration of Inde-pendence was signed in 1776.

3. The bear is universally recognizable as modern Russia.

4. The four-headed leopard depicts the four Reichs, or subsequent kingdoms of Germany. No other nation in history is

more clearly identified with a leopard than Germany. Its famous leopard tanks have fought in wars around the world throughout the twentieth century. The four heads (four kingdoms, or “Reichs”) span the entire era of the Holy Roman Empire from its birth in a.d. 800 until today.

In comparison to Daniel, John, in the book of Revelation, saw one dreadful beast composed of several of the same symbols Daniel had seen. This composite beast had the body of the leopard (Germany). It had the mouth of the lion (Great Britain) and the feet of the bear (Russia). The merging of these nations into one indicates the forming of a global government. The Antichrist and the mark of the beast will be introduced by this powerful world government three and one-half years before Jesus Christ returns for the Battle of Armageddon.

Only one of the most prominent beast-symbols found in Daniel 7 did not appear among the beast-symbols of Revelation 13—the eagle’s wings (the United States).

what does the absence of the eagle’s wings from the beast of revelation 13 signify? There are three possibilities: 1. The U.S. may

be destroyed in the prophesied war that will kill one-third part of men. 2. America may be included in the world government beast as part of the lion out of which she came. 3. The U.S. may refuse to cooperate with the world government system, moving into iso-lation as the global government dominates most of the world.

1. will the united states be destroyed?The eagle’s wings are mentioned in one place in the book of Revelation. “And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent,” (Revelation 12:14). In this prophecy, the woman is Israel, and the serpent is Satan. The serpent is depicted as trying to destroy the nation of Israel three and one-half years before Armageddon. The passage says that Israel will be assisted by “two wings of a great eagle” in fleeing to “her place”, inside Israel’s final borders. There she will be protected from Satan and his Antichrist during the three and one-half years of the great tribulation.

in Revelation 12 refer to the United States? We know that the eagle’s wings definitely referred to the U.S. in Daniel 7:4. We also know that Is-rael presently has one friend that she can rely on to help her—the United States, the eagle. If it were not for the U.S. veto on the UN Securi-ty Council, Israel would have been destroyed by the world community a long time ago.

We can see that it’s almost certain the U.S. will still be serving as Israel’s protector three and one-half years before Armageddon. This is after the Euphrates River War that will kill one-third part of men. So we can conclude from Revelation 12:14 that the United States has probably not been annihilated.

2. is the united states included in the world government ProPhecy as Part of the lion?Since the eagle’s wings were plucked off of the lion in Daniel 7, it’s hard to imagine the eagle being depicted as part of the lion afterward in Revelation 13. The U.S. cooperates more with the United Nations than many of us would like; however, America is seen as the number one hindrance to the UN serving as a bona fide world government. We have refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty, the International Crim-inal Court Statute, and to ratify the UN Con-vention on the Rights of the Child. We also defied the United Nations when we launched the war against Iraq in 2003.

Last but not least, we have continually stood against a world community bent on subduing the nation of Israel. Israel will be enemy num-ber one to the Antichrist, and the U.S. will be Israel’s number one protector.

Considering all of these factors, it appears that the case is strong for the U.S. to remain less than fully committed to the world gov-ernment of the Antichrist.

3. is it scriPturally Possible that america will not ParticiPate in the mark of the beast?Prophecies in the Bible indicate that the Anti-christ will “devour the whole earth”. From this prophecy, many have concluded that he will be in total and absolute control of every nook and cranny of the world.

However, other scriptures indicate that this will not be true. In Daniel 11:41, it states that Edom, Moab and the children of Ammon shall escape out of the hand of the Antichrist. Edom, Moab and Ammon (Amman) are all located in the modern nation of Jordan. So Jordan will never be under the control of the Antichrist. It should be noted that this prophecy comes after the occurrence of the abomination of desolation (verse 33), which happens three and one-half years before the Battle of Armageddon.

Later on, in Daniel 11:44, we are told, “But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.” So deep into the final three and

one-half years known as the great tribulation, the Antichrist is fighting wars. He still has op-position at the national level.

We also know for sure that the nation of Israel will never fall under the control of the Antichrist. That’s the reason the Antichrist and his world government armies will launch their battle against her at the time of Arma-geddon.

Knowing these things, we have to conclude that the Antichrist and his world government will dominate the world but will have pockets of resistance. Can we say then with certainty that America will be one of those pockets of resistance? No. But we certainly hope so! Could America be a harbor of safety from the coming storm called the great tribulation? Could America serve as a center for world evangelism in the troubled times that are just ahead? We believe that it is scripturally pos-sible.

Bible prophecy is clear that there WILL be a mark of the beast, but it is not es-sential for the United States to be a part of that system as we view the prophecies.

Nine specific prophecies will come to pass within the final seven years preceding the Battle of Armageddon. In this article, we will explain each prophecy and demonstrate how events are already converging for its fulfillment.

what is the battle of armageddon?The Battle of Armageddon is referred to many times in scripture. However, the term “Armageddon” is only used once in the entire Bible. It is found in Revelation 16:12-16.

And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Al-mighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his gar-ments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

In this passage, it states that the “kings of the east” will invade Israel at Arma-geddon. Zechariah 14:2-4 says that “all nations” will be gathered against Jeru-salem at Armageddon. Both of these prophecies are correct.

There are approximately 192 na-

tions on earth. For each of them to have troops in the land of Israel for the Battle of Armageddon is not even feasible. But a world community force representing all the nations of the world would fulfill both passages.

When President George H.W. Bush went against Iraq in 1991, he assembled a coalition of twenty-nine nations to fight against Iraq under the UN flag. He said at the time that the war was not the U.S. against Iraq. It was Saddam Hussein against the world. The coalition forces were there to enforce a UN resolution and thus were there as the forces of the world community.

It will be the same at Armageddon. A coalition of nations from the east will volunteer to invade Israel under the au-thority of a UN resolution. Some of those nations are named in Ezekiel 38. Among them are Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Ethiopia.

Other accounts of Armageddon are found in Revelation 17:14, 19:11-21 and Ezekiel 38-39.

If that happens or whenever it hap-pens, it appears that will be the confirma-tion of the covenant and the beginning of the final seven years to Armageddon.

ProPhecy #2:A massive war will begin from the vicin-ity of the Euphrates River resulting in the killing of one-third part of men.

The prophecy is found in Revelation 9:13-16.

And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four an-gels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

The ominous dimensions of this prophecy hit you right in the face—“to slay the third part of men.” Could it literally mean what it says? Is this a prophecy foretelling a war that will kill one-third of the human race? That would be two billion people!

Some have wondered if this could refer to one-third of a particular army or one-third of a region of the earth. Checking the original Greek text, it appears to mean just what it says—one-third of mankind. Whatever the case, Revelation 9 prophesies a war of horrific proportions.

The scripture says that this war will emanate from the Euphrates River. The Euphrates River was unfamiliar to many of us until the U.S. invaded Iraq in March of 2003. Suddenly, news reports were filled with pictures of battles raging up and down the Eu-phrates. A majority of the Euphrates River is in the nation of Iraq where the U.S. has 140,000 troops stationed at this moment. The entirety of the Euphrates flows through Muslim territory. Could the present War on Terrorism, more recently labeled by President Bush as the war with Islam-ic Fundamentalism, be the beginning of this Euphrates River War that will kill one-third part of men? It certainly looks that way.

If the present conflict against Is-lamic Fundamentalism is the war that will kill one-third of mankind, then things are going to get much worse before they get better. Situations with Iran, North Korea, Syria and the Tai-wan-China dispute will spin out of control, resulting in World War III.

According to scripture, this Eu-phrates River War will occur before the beginning of the three and one-half year great tribulation. It will cre-ate such global devastation that the world will welcome with open arms the Antichrist and his prophesied sys-tem of world government.

ProPhecy #3:The West Bank in Israel will become a place of great tribulation three and one-half years before Armageddon.

Jesus gave this prophecy in his fa-mous Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24:15-21.

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him under-

stand:) Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Nei-ther let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The abomination of desolation takes place three and one-half years before the Battle of Armageddon. We know this because Daniel 9:27 says that it will occur in the middle of the final seven-year period known as Daniel’s 70th week. Furthermore, Jesus said the abomination of desola-tion would mark the beginning of the great tribulation. The tribulation is three and one-half years long, ending at Armageddon.

The prophecy states that those liv-ing in the West Bank, which is biblical Judea, must immediately run for their lives when they see the abomination of desolation because it will signal the beginning of tribulation such as never has been before.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Ol-mert has openly stated that he intends to withdraw from the West Bank, leaving behind any Jews that don’t want to move. He said they could live under the Palestinian government if they wanted to. Some will foolishly choose this option. The result will be a horrible slaughter at the hands of the Palestinians.

ProPhecy #4 The Temple Mount in Jerusalem will be placed under a sharing arrange-ment between Jew and Gentile.

The two remaining issues still pending between Israelis and Pales-tinians are the status of the West Bank and control of Jerusalem. Israel says she will never surrender Jerusalem. The Palestinians contend that there will never be peace until a Palestinian state is established with Jerusalem as its capital.

When negotiations between Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat at Camp Da-vid in July of 2000 appeared to be close to success, they couldn’t agree on who would control the Temple Mount. Finally, President Clinton suggested

that it could be shared…that every-one could worship there together. Most Middle East experts now agree that sharing the Temple Mount is the only arrangement that could possibly be accepted by both parties.

This is exactly what Revelation 11:1-2 prophesies will happen.

And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is with-out the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

John was told to measure the Jew-ish temple but to not measure the outer court because it would be un-der Gentile control for 42 months. This portrays a Temple Mount being shared between Muslim and Jew dur-ing the three and one-half years of the great tribulation.

ProPhecy #5Israel’s temple will be built on the Temple Mount.

Both Revelation 11 and 2 Thessa-lonians 2 explicitly say that a temple will be standing on the Temple Mount during the 42 months of the great tribulation.

In Revelation 11:1-2 (see text above), John is told to measure the temple. Obviously, you can’t measure a temple that doesn’t exist.

Notice 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, Let no man deceive you by any

means: for that day shall not come, ex-cept there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

From this passage we see that the man of sin (the Antichrist) will sit in the temple of God claiming to be God. He can’t sit in a temple if there is no temple.

There have only been two temples in all Jewish history. The First Temple was built in 968 BC and stood until 586 BC. The Second Temple was built in 516 BC and was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. The Jews have not had a temple since that time. Yet here are these two prophecies declaring that a temple will be standing on the

In preparation for the coming temple, the Tem-ple Institute was founded in Jerusalem in 1987. The Institute has now recreated all of the furni-ture and the utensils needed for the resumption of temple ministry. The Institute is also actively training young rabbis in all of the ceremonies of the temple service. As of September of 2006, the Temple Institute is working with architects to complete the blueprints for building the Third Temple.

Once the blueprints are completed, it has been decided to prefabricate the Third Temple offsite, just as Solomon built the First Temple offsite. When the political situation allows, the temple will then be quickly assembled on the Temple Mount itself.

ProPhecy #6The Temple Mount will be placed under the su-pervision of the world community and the leader of the world community, the Antichrist.

In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (see text above), it states that the international leader of the world, the Antichrist, will stand on the Temple Mount claiming to be the ultimate authority there. How could such a scenario unfold?

When President Clinton suggested in the year 2000 placing the Temple Mount under a sharing arrangement, Arafat felt it would produce noth-ing but continual conflict. Israel’s Ehud Barak suggested that the Temple Mount could be placed under the supervision of a United Nations peace-keeping force.

It appears that this will be the eventual arrange-ment as Israel, the Palestinians and the world community attempt to solve the Middle East con-flict. This explains why the Antichrist as leader of the world community will stand on the Temple Mount claiming to be the ultimate authority there.

ProPhecy #7A world government will dominate the world for three and one-half years prior to Armageddon.

After the war that kills one-third of mankind, the clamor for a world government with teeth will become deafening. Daniel 7:23 refers to that world government.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be di-verse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

The beast in this passage refers to the Anti-christ himself. Notice that he will devour the whole earth. In verse 25 of Daniel 7, we are told that his reign will continue for a time, times and the dividing of time. This is prophetic terminol-ogy for three and one-half years. We know this because the same prophecy is given in Revelation 13:5 & 7.

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months…And it was given unto him to make war with the saints,

and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Here we told that the Antichrist’s reign will last for 42 months, and that he will reign over all the earth.

We have to ask: Are there any signs that we are moving into a system of world gov-ernment right now?

Have you heard of the World Trade Organization? The World Bank? The In-ternational Monetary Fund? The World Health Organization? The World Court? International law?

Why do we need a World Court if there is not a world government and world law for that world court to adjudicate?

The fact is that we are not fully in world government today, but we are much far-ther into it than most of us understand. Terms such as international community, world community and globalization roll off of our tongues effortlessly. Yet we don’t even comprehend the full import of what they mean. All of these terms are referring to world government that is presently in formation. And it is the world govern-ment over which the Antichrist will soon rule.

ProPhecy #8Each person on earth will be required to have a mark or a number in order to buy or sell. Each individual will have to pledge allegiance in some way to the Antichrist and his one-world government in order to be allowed to receive that number.

The famous mark of the beast prophecy is found in Revelation 13:15-18.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the num-ber of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

The United Nations’ favorite method of enforcing its will on nations is eco-nomic sanctions. We’ve seen them used repeatedly to force obedience to the UN’s edicts.

This prophecy portrays a time when economic sanctions will be placed on individuals, not just on nations. Not un-til the invention of the computer and the birth of the Internet has the fulfillment of this prophecy been possible. Now it is not only possible, but we are watching the mark of the beast program being set up in our world right now!

On May 11, 2005, President Bush signed into law the Real ID Act. This law requires every American to receive a na-tional ID card. Without this card, you will not be able to hold a job or open a bank account. Without a job and a bank ac-count, how much buying and selling will you be able to do?

What do you have to do to receive your national ID? Give legal proof of your iden-tity; give a biometric identifier—either your fingerprint (from your hand) or your iris scan (from your forehead). A little too close to the prophecy for comfort, isn’t it? Oh, by the way…you also have to give your number—your social security num-ber. No number? No buying or selling.

The law passed on May 11, 2005 re-quires all Americans to have this national ID by May 11, 2008.

ProPhecy #9The world community, led by Russia and Iran, will invade the nation of Israel. This will be the world’s last battle called Arma-geddon.

Zechariah 14:2-4 describes the Battle of Armageddon this way:

For I will gather all nations against Jeru-salem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women rav-ished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those na-tions, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Israel has been the country that nations love to hate. Resolutions against Israel have passed in the UN General Assem-bly by such ridiculous margins as 152 to 2 (Israel and the U.S. against the world) or 151 to 3 (Israel, the U.S. and Microne-

sia against the world). In many instances, only the U.S. veto power at the UN Secu-rity Council has saved Israel from United Nations sanctions or possibly even mili-tary invasion by international forces.

One of the greatest inequities of all times is the United Nations’ steadfast refusal to recognize Israel’s chosen capital—Jerusa-lem. There are 192 member nations at the UN. Each of their capitals is recognized by the international body, except one—Je-rusalem. The Bible prophesies repeatedly that some day the nations of the world will launch an invasion against Israel.

The government of Israel is foolishly setting the stage for this future invasion by the United Nations right now. Ehud Olmert specifically requested a robust in-ternational force along Israel’s border with Lebanon. This is the same United Nations that will invade Israel at the time of Ar-mageddon.

Ezekiel 38 specifically names Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Ethiopia as na-tions that will contribute troops to the world government force that will invade at Armageddon. Already, we can see Iran calling for the eradication of Israel from the map. As the U.S. attempts to censure Iran for these provocative statements and to block her access to nuclear weapons, Russia protects Iran with its veto power at the Security Council.

Revelation 16:12 foretells that the Eu-phrates River will be dried up to facilitate the invasion of Israel by the kings of the east (Iran, Russia, Turkey). On January 13, 1990, the headline in the Indianapolis Star read, “Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Eu-phrates for One Month” Turkey had just completed its huge Ataturk Dam. They raised the dam, stopping the Euphrates while they filled up their new reservoir. Turkey now has the mechanism in place to stop the flow of the Euphrates when-ever they choose. They will be able to use that power at the time of Armageddon to assist armies in their rapid invasion of Is-rael. The stage is set for the Euphrates to be dried up, just like the 2,000-year-old prophecy says.

Now that you have examined nine prophecies that will all come to pass with-in the seven years preceding Armaged-don, do you believe we are approaching the Battle of Armageddon?

My subject today is whether America is a police state. I’m sure the large majority of Americans would answer this in the negative. Most would associate military pa-trols, martial law and summary executions with a police state, something obviously not present in our every-day activities. However, those with knowledge of Ruby Ridge, Mount Carmel and other such incidents may have a different opinion.

The principal tool for sustaining a police state, even the most militant, is always economic control and punishment by denying disobedient citizens such things as jobs or places to live, and by levying fines and imprisonment. The military is more often used in the transition phase to a totalitarian state. Maintenance for long periods is usually accomplished through economic controls on commercial transactions, the use of all property, and political dissent. Peaceful control through these efforts can be achieved without storm troopers on our street corners.

Terror and fear are used to achieve complacency and obedience, especially when citizens are deluded into believing they are still a free people. The changes, they are assured, will be minimal, short-lived, and necessary, such as those that occur in times of a declared war. Under these conditions, most citizens believe that once the war is won, the restrictions on their liberties will be reversed. For the most part, however, after a declared war is over, the return to normalcy is never complete. In an undeclared war, without a precise enemy and therefore no precise ending, returning to normalcy can prove illusory.

We have just concluded a century of wars, declared and undeclared, while at the same time responding to public outcries for more economic equity. The question, as a result of these policies, is: “Are we already living in a police state?” If we are, what are we going to do about it? If we are not, we need to know if there’s any danger that we’re moving in that direction.

the democratic process with majority support. During a crisis, the rights of in-dividuals and the minority are more easily trampled, which is more likely to condition a nation to become a police state than a military coup. Promised ben-efits initially seem to exceed the cost in dollars or lost freedom. When people face terrorism or great fear- from whatever source- the tendency to demand economic and physical security over liberty and self-reliance proves irresistible. The masses are easily led to believe that security and liberty are mutually exclu-sive, and demand for security far exceeds that for liberty.

Once it’s discovered that the desire for both economic and physical security that prompted the sacrifice of liberty inevitably led to the loss of prosperity and no real safety, it’s too late. Reversing the trend from authoritarian rule toward a freer society becomes very difficult, takes a long time, and entails much suf-fering. Although dissolution of the Soviet empire was relatively non-violent at the end, millions suffered from police suppression and economic deprivation in the decades prior to 1989.

But what about here in the United States? With respect to a police state, where are we and where are we going?

Let me make a few observations:Our government already keeps close tabs on just about everything we do and

requires official permission for nearly all of our activities.One might take a look at our Capitol for any evidence of a police state. We

see: barricades, metal detectors, police, military soldiers at times, dogs, ID badges required for every move, vehicles checked at airports and through-out the Capitol. The people are totally disarmed, except for the police and the criminals. But worse yet, surveillance cameras in Washington are everywhere to ensure our safety.

The terrorist attacks only provided the cover for the do-gooders who have been planning for a long time before last September to monitor us “for our own good.” Cameras are used to spy on our drug habits, on our kids at school, on subway travelers, and on visitors to every government building or park. There’s not much evidence of an open society in Washington, DC, yet most folks do not complain- anything goes if it’s for government-provided safety and security.

If this huge amount of information and technology is placed in the hands of the government to catch the bad guys, one naturally asks, What’s the big deal? But it should be a big deal, because it eliminates the enjoyment of privacy that a free society holds dear. The personal information of law-abiding citizens can be used for reasons other than safety- including political reasons. Like gun control, people control hurts law-abiding citizens much more than the law-breakers.

Social Security numbers are used to monitor our daily activities. The numbers are given at birth, and then are needed when we die and for everything in be-tween. This allows government record keeping of monstrous proportions, and accommodates the thugs who would steal others’ identities for criminal purpos-es. This invasion of privacy has been compounded by the technology now avail-able to those in government who enjoy monitoring and directing the activities of others. Loss of personal privacy was a major problem long before 9/11.

Centralized control and regulations are required in a police state. Commu-nity and individual state regulations are not as threatening as the monolith of

rules and regulations written by Congress and the federal bureaucracy. Law and order has been federalized in many ways and we are moving inexorably in that direction.

Almost all of our economic activities de-pend upon receiving the proper permits from the federal government. Transactions involving guns, food, medicine, smoking, drinking, hiring, firing, wages, politically correct speech, land use, fishing, hunting, buying a house, business mergers and acqui-sitions, selling stocks and bonds, and farm-ing all require approval and strict regulation from our federal government. If this is not done properly and in a timely fashion, eco-nomic penalties and even imprisonment are likely consequences.

Because government pays for much of our health care, it’s conveniently argued that any habits or risk-taking that could harm one’s health are the prerogative of the federal gov-ernment, and are to be regulated by explicit rules to keep medical-care costs down. This same argument is used to require helmets for riding motorcycles and bikes.

Not only do we need a license to drive, but we also need special belts, bags, buzzers, seats and environmentally dictated speed limits- or a policemen will be pulling us over to levy a fine, and he will be toting a gun for sure.

The states do exactly as they’re told by the federal government, because they are threat-ened with the loss of tax dollars being re-turned to their state- dollars that should have never been sent to DC in the first place, let alone used to extort obedience to a powerful federal government.

Over 80,000 federal bureaucrats now car-ry guns to make us toe the line and to enforce the thousands of laws and tens of thousands of regulations that no one can possibly under-stand. We don’t see the guns, but we all know they’re there, and we all know we can’t fight “City Hall,” especially if it’s “Uncle Sam.”

All 18-year-old males must register to be ready for the next undeclared war. If they don’t, men with guns will appear and enforce this congressional mandate. “Involuntary servitude” was banned by the 13th Amend-ment, but courts don’t apply this prohibition to the servitude of draftees or those citizens required to follow the dictates of the IRS- es-pecially the employers of the country, who serve as the federal government’s chief tax collectors and information gatherers. Fear is the tool used to intimidate most Americans to comply to the tax code by making exam-ples of celebrities. Leona Helmsley and Wil-lie Nelson know how this process works.

Economic threats against business estab-lishments are notorious. Rules and regula-tions from the EPA, the ADA, the SEC, the LRB, OSHA, etc. terrorize business owners into submission, and those charged accept their own guilt until they can prove them-selves innocent. Of course, it turns out it’s much more practical to admit guilt and pay the fine. This serves the interest of the au-thoritarians because it firmly establishes just who is in charge.

Information leaked from a government agency like the FDA can make or break a company within minutes. If information is

leaked, even inadvertently, a company can be destroyed, and individuals involved in reveal-ing government-monopolized information can be sent to prison. Even though economic crimes are serious offenses in the United States, violent crimes sometimes evoke more sympathy and fewer penalties. Just look at the O.J. Simpson case as an example.

Efforts to convict Bill Gates and others like him of an economic crime are astounding, considering his contribution to economic progress, while sources used to screen out terrorist elements from our midst are tragi-cally useless. If business people are found guilty of even the suggestion of collusion in the marketplace, huge fines and even impris-onment are likely consequences.

Price fixing is impossible to achieve in a free market. Under today’s laws, talking to, or con-sulting with, competitors can be easily con-strued as “price fixing” and involve a serious crime, even with proof that the so-called col-lusion never generated monopoly-controlled prices or was detrimental to consumers.

Lawfully circumventing taxes, even sales taxes, can lead to serious problems if a high-profile person can be made an example.

One of the most onerous controls placed on American citizens is the control of speech through politically correct legislation. Derogatory remarks or off-color jokes are justification for firings, demotions, and the destruction of political careers. The movement toward designating penalties based on the category to which victims belong, rather the nature of the crime itself, has the thought police patrolling the airways and byways. Establishing relative rights and special penalties for subjective motivation is a dangerous trend.

All our financial activities are subject to “legal” searches without warrants and with-out probable cause. Tax collection, drug us-age, and possible terrorist activities “justify” the endless accumulation of information on all Americans.

Government control of medicine has prompted the establishment of the National Medical Data Bank. For efficiency reasons, it is said, the government keeps our medical re-cords for our benefit. This, of course, is done with vague and useless promises that this information will always remain confidential- just like all the FBI information in the past!

Personal privacy, the sine qua non of lib-erty, no longer exists in the United States. Ruthless and abusive use of all this informa-tion accumulated by the government is yet to come. The Patriot Act has given unbelievable power to listen, read, and monitor all our transactions without a search warrant being issued after affirmation of probably cause. “Sneak and peak” and blanket searches are now becoming more frequent every day. What have we allowed to happen to the 4th amendment?

It may be true that the average American does not feel intimidated by the encroach-ment of the police state. I’m sure our citizens are more tolerant of what they see as mere nuisances because they have been deluded into believing all this government supervi-sion is necessary and helpful- and besides

they are living quite comfortably, material wise. However the reaction will be different once all this new legislation we’re passing comes into full force, and the material com-forts that soften our concerns for govern-ment regulations are decreased. This attitude then will change dramatically, but the trend toward the authoritarian state will be diffi-cult to reverse.

What government gives with one hand- as it attempts to provide safety and security- it must, at the same time, take away with two others. When the majority recognizes that the monetary cost and the results of our war against terrorism and personal freedoms are a lot less than promised, it may be too late.

I’m sure all my concerns are unconvincing to the vast majority of Americans, who not only are seeking but also are demanding they be made safe from any possible attack from anybody, ever. I grant you this is a reasonable request.

The point is, however, there may be a much better way of doing it. We must remember, we don’t sit around and worry that some Canadian citizen is about to walk into New York City and set off a nuclear weapon. We must come to understand the real reason is that there’s a difference between the Canadi-ans and all our many friends and the Islamic radicals. And believe me, we’re not the target because we’re “free and prosperous”.

The argument made for more government controls here at home and expansionism overseas to combat terrorism is simple and goes like this: “If we’re not made safe from potential terrorists, property and freedom have no meaning.” It is argued that first we must have life and physical and economic se-curity, with continued abundance, then we’ll talk about freedom.

It reminds me of the time I was soliciting political support from a voter and was boldly put down: “Ron,” she said, “I wish you would lay off this freedom stuff; it’s all nonsense. We’re looking for a Representative who will know how to bring home the bacon and help our area, and you’re not that person.” Believe me, I understand that argument; it’s just that I don’t agree that is what should be motivat-ing us here in the Congress.

That’s not the way it works. Freedom does not preclude security. Making security the highest priority can deny prosperity and still fail to provide the safety we all want.

The Congress would never agree that we are a police state. Most members, I’m sure, would argue otherwise. But we are all obli-gated to decide in which direction we are go-ing. If we’re moving toward a system that en-hances individual liberty and justice for all, my concerns about a police state should be reduced or totally ignored. Yet, if, by chance, we’re moving toward more authoritarian control than is good for us, and moving to-ward a major war of which we should have no part, we should not ignore the dangers. If current policies are permitting a serious challenge to our institutions that allow for our great abundance, we ignore them at great risk for future generations. n
