Between two and three years.

God had moved mightily in Ephesus and the
surrounding area;
Many were saved and turned from idolatry.
Paul was preparing to leave and go through
Macedonia, Achaia, Jerusalem, and then to Rome.

Acts 19:22 So he sent into Macedonia two of them that
ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he
himself stayed in Asia for a season.
These two men had submitted themselves
unto the Apostle Paul
to minister unto him, but also to help him minister.
Paul sent and they went.

23 And the same time there arose no small stir about
That Way. ("That Way" being Christianity)
Luke is the master of understatement.
It was an uproar in that city.

24 For a certain man named Demetrius, a
silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana,
brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; 25 Whom
he called together with the workmen of like
occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this
craft we have our wealth.
If you want to make people mad, start getting
into their money!
Especially if they are wealthy.

26 Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at
Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul
hath persuaded and turned away much people,
saying that they be no gods, which are made with
hands:
It is true; Paul did preach that man-made
idols are not true gods.
We serve God Almighty, Creator of all.
We are not Creator of any god.
There is no other God.

27 So that not only this our craft is in danger to be
set at nought; but also that the temple of the great
goddess Diana should be despised, and her magni-
ficence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the
world worshippeth.
The more people who believed Paul's
message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
The less idols they could sell.
When people put their trust in the True and
Living God, they despise the counterfeits.

Counterfeit godsExodus 20 1 And God spake all these Words,
saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods
before Me.

The first of the Ten Commandments is that Israel
was to worship the one true God. Worshiping false
gods would be setting up rivals to Him (before Me
may mean “in opposition to Me” as well as “in My
Presence”) and thus overlooking His uniqueness. The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas Seminary Faculty.
Any other god is in opposition to the True
and Living God, and we are always in
His Presence.

Gods of this world may not be stone or wood, and
we may not bow down physically to worship them.
Too many people love money
more than they love God.
1 Timothy 6 8And having food and raiment let us be
therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and
hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and
perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all
evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred
from the faith, and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows.

Fun and pleasure
can be a god
When you neglect
God, church, and
family.
We even call them idols.
