YEAR OF MERCY

Pope Francis desires that the year ‘will be steeped in mercy, so that we can go out to every man and woman, bringing

the goodness and tenderness of God! May the balm of mercy reach

everyone, both believers and those far away, as a sign that the Kingdom of

God is already present in our midst!’

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne!

For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne. We'll take a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne.

Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Give me joy in my heart, I pray, Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising, Keep me praising 'till the break of day.

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings! Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to

the King.

Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting, Give me peace in my heart, I pray. Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting, Keep me resting 'till the end of day.

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings! Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to

the King.

Give me love in my heart, keep me serving, Give me love in my heart, I pray; Give me love in my heart, keep me serving, Keep me serving till the break of day.

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to the King of kings! Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, Sing hosanna to

the King.

A reading from the book ofNumbers

The Lord spoke to Moses and said, ‘Say this to Aaron and

his sons: “This is how you are to bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May the Lord let his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord uncover his face to you and bring you

peace.”This is how they are to call down my name on the sons of Israel, and I will bless them.’

The Second Reading

A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Galatians

When the appointed time came, God sent his Son,

born of a woman, born a subject of the Law, to redeem the subjects of the Law and to enable us to be adopted as sons. The proof

that you are sons is that God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts: the Spirit that cries, ‘Abba, Father’, and it is this that makes you

a son, you are not a slave any more; and if God has made you son, then he has made you heir.

The Word

of the Lord

Thanks be to God.

Alleluia, alleluia! At various times in the past and in various different ways, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but in our own time, the last days, he has spoken to us through his Son.Alleluia!

Gospel Acclamation

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit. A Reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.

Glory to you, O Lord. The Gospel

The shepherds hurried away to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they

repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary,

she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had

heard and seen; it was exactly as they had been told. When the eighth day came and the child was to be

circumcised, they gave him the name Jesus, the name the angel had given him before his conception.

The Gospel of the Lord

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Invitation to Communion

O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the works Thy hand hath made

I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder

Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee

How great Thou art! How great Thou art! (2)

When through the woods and forest glades I wander, and hear

the birds sing sweetly in the trees; when I look down from lofty

mountain grandeur, and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to

TheeHow great Thou art!

How great Thou art! (2)

But when I think that God His Son not sparing

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to

TheeHow great Thou art!

How great Thou art! (2)

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart;

when I shall bow in humble adoration

And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to

TheeHow great Thou art!

How great Thou art! (2)
