Jesus had taught His disciples many many thingsthings of God, the Father.

This is one:"God is LightLight and in Him is no darknessno darkness at all."

DarknessDarkness represents sin.

Jesus nevernever sinned while on the earth.

God has no capacityno capacity to sin in Him.

God's naturenature is pure and perfect Light.

Light is RighteousnessRighteousness.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the Truth:

To walk in darkness is to walk contrarywalk contrary to the LightLight of God's Word.

All contrarinesscontrariness to the Word of God is sinis sin.

Those who are in fellowshipin fellowship with God are are walkingwalking, as closely as they may,

To the Principles and Truths of His WordHis Word.

They don'tdon't resent or resist God's Word, but rather embraceembrace every Word of God.

7 But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship one with anotherone with another, and the BloodBlood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

As we walkwe walk in the Light of His Word, we have fellowship with Godfellowship with God,

And that fellowship will extendwill extend to all of God's obedient children. "With one anotherWith one another".

It's notnot the walking that bringsbrings the cleansing of His Blood.

The cleansingcleansing of His Blood brings the walking.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive our-selves, and the Truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.

John is writing to ChristiansChristians.

God's desiredesire for all Christians is that wewe may enjoy that which John enjoysJohn enjoys:

FellowshipFellowship with God and with the children of God,

And that our joyjoy may be full.

Pretending to have no sinno sin and therefore no need to repentrepent will not make us happy.

Allowing God's Word to speakspeak to our hearts and convictconvict us of our sin,

And then to confessconfess and forsakeforsake that sin:

Will keep us in fellowshipfellowship with our Lord,

And bring joybring joy unspeakable and full of glory.

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We must confess our sin as sinas sin.

James 2 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the Scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons (show partiality), ye commit sin, and are convinced (convicted) of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keepkeep the whole law, and yet offend in one one pointpoint, he is guilty of all.

Galatians 5 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Between the flesh that is born of mankind, and our spirit which is born of God.

"Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the desires of the flesh."

To walk in the Spirit is to walk in lovein love,

To walk in joyjoy and peacepeace and patiencepatience.

To walk in the Spirit is to walk in gentlenessgentleness,

To walk in goodnessgoodness and in faithfaith,

Meekly submittedMeekly submitted and disciplineddisciplined to God's Word.
