• The generation and revision of technical graphics is a significant component of the publications production process
• The process requires efficiency, from the Technical Illustrator/Writer and the software tools
• The production process will vary dependent on the source, legacy and archive data
• The published format can also differ based on the deployment method, usually print or electronic manual
• All these factors result in the requirement for a flexible software toolset

Summary
• There are many different scenarios when producing technical graphics• The graphical source and archive formats are varied• Selecting the appropriate formats for input and output can be a challenge
• When selecting input/source data, a vector format will invariably provide the best quality
• The primary output considerations should be re-use and publishing• Ideally choose a format that answers both of these criteria• Managing more than one file type can cause configuration issues• CGM provides the ability to be edited and published
• VizEx Edit enables you to handle varying source formats, repurpose and the deliver quality graphics via CGM
