BY OPENING THIS DOCUMENT YOU AGREE TO COMMIT TO THIS NON -D ISCLOSURE NOT ICE.

PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT In 2013 September 21 , We marched against the scourge of Rhino Poaching under the banner "Save Our

Rhino" street parade.

We handed a Memorandum To Minister Edna Molewa...The Memorandum states "that the youth of South

A frica are touched, worried and concerned about the country’s rhino and the effect poaching wi l l have on the ir futures."

In further c ited ".. .“As youth, we should get involved in our future . The more we do together... .the more

people learn about rh inos and the more f ie ld projects w i l l be supported.”

TRUMPET CALL BY MINISTER EDNA MOLEWA

“I cal l on our partners and indeed on al l South A fricans to work with us in winning this f ight, a l l the whi le working alongside communities in the management and ownership of w i ld l i fe . This is our very prec ious

heritage .”

PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT IN THE MEMORANDUM WE INTRODUCED : THE 6-POINT PLAN.

This inc luded increasing national and international awareness, educational and publ ic ity campaigns on the

seriousness of rhino horn poaching; the appointment of specia l force to combat and int imidate poachers

and prevent them from entering conservation areas; improved intel l igence and greater use of technology

in the f ight aga inst rh ino poaching and increasing funding for anti -poaching in it iatives ."

OUR FOCUS IS ON POINT ONE

"Increasing national and international awareness, educational and publ ic ity campaigns ta i lored around

rh ino horn poaching and i t’s impact thereof .”

We are developing a game, which wi l l be launched on 2016 and wi l l be d istributed on a global sca le .

PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT The purpose of this document is to secure funding/sponsorship and an endorsement in order to begin the

development of the game. We strongly bel ieve that the concept wi l l be a great in it iat ive that can play a

major role in combating the scourge of rhino poaching. We bel ieve this great in it iative wi l l p lay a role in

the job creation for young ta lented South A fricans .

Proceeds from this project, which we are hoping to rol l out in 2016, wi l l be donated or re- invested into

other deve lopmenta l and rh ino poaching programmes that are focused on point one .

An endorsement would be a great way to kick-start the implementation of the proposed project, which is

not only susta inable but a lso puts South A frica on the map in f ighting the rh ino poaching problem.

BACKGROUND

To date only five rhinoceros species remain in the entire world. In the last decade, two rhino sub-species, namely,

the western black rhinoceros in Cameroon and the indochinese javan rhinoceros in Vietnam have become extinct!

In A frica there are two spec ies of rh ino, namely, the white rh ino, of which there are approximately 20 000

left , and the crit ica l ly endangered b lack rh ino w ith only 4 800 remaining! ( Source dea, 2013 ).

A ccording to the Rhino Issue Management report (2013), over 90% of A frica ’s white rh ino are found in South A frica . There are approximately 1 400 white rh ino in Namib ia, Botswana, Swazi land, Zimbabwe and

Mozambique and smal ler numbers present in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania .

The b lack rh ino remains the most targeted of a l l rh inos particularly in South A frica .

The overwhelming cause of rh ino dec l ine and extinction in the last 50 years has been due to poaching,

stimulated by h igh demand for the rh ino horn which is used for traditional craft and medic ina l purposes by

consumer nations in the middle -east and Asia .

BACKGROUND cont…

A ccording to statistics prov ided by the Wi ldl i fe and Env ironment Soc iety of South A frica (WESSA), rh ino

poaching has cost South A frica a f inanc ia l loss of approximately R228 mi l l ion - w ith more than 333 rh inos

be ing poached last year a lone! I t is for th is reason that the country is going a l l out to counter poachers

and protect our rh inos.

The number of rhinos killed since the beginning of 2015 is a staggering 49, 36 killed in one weekend and 17 people

have been arrested for the crimes. Minister Edna Molewa reported back on the integrated strategic management

of rhinoceros in South Africa and stated that significant progress has been made with regards to the

implementation of the interventions.

Some of th is progress has inc luded the deployment of South A frican National Defence Force (SANDF)

members at the Kruger National Park. The A rmy brought in i t ’s expertise to beef up a team of Park Rangers, who were overwhelmed by the increased ki l l ing of rh inos for the ir horns and th is move has gone a

long way into bringing conf idence that rh ino poaching can be extinguished.

BACKGROUND cont…

In March of th is year 265 sold iers were strategica l ly dep loyed in and around the National Park and its

borders, fol low ing a heartfe lt p lea for he lp by the South A frican National Parks (SanParks ) and as a result

of the mi l i tary's presence in th is area there has been v is ib le reduction in the crime rate .

In an interv iew with Defence magazine, Colonel Nceba Bobelo, Off icer Commanding for Joint Operations

Tactical Headquaters in Mpumalanga, sa id “Operation Corona” was making a huge d ifference in the f ight

aga inst poachers .

THE CONCEPT - OPPORTUNITY

With the h igh rate of rh ino poaching taking p lace, we came up with a unique concept that can be added to

the various efforts underway to a id the f ight aga inst the ki l l ing of the A frican rh ino.

This project can become a huge awareness campaign i f implemented properly on a loca l and international

stage. The concept further enhances the South A frican government’s “OPERATION CORONA” in it iative that is currently underway involv ing the A ir Force, Defence Force and Rangers .
