By Our Staff Correspondent
BHOPAL, DEC. 15. Jagdeep Dangi, a computer engineeringgraduate from Samrat Ashok Technological Institute(SATI) in Vidisha, claims that he has come up with theworld's first Hindi browser with Internet Explorer. Afterobtaining his degree, Mr. Dangi did not go jobhunting.Instead, he spent more than three years developing theHindi software. He completed his school level education inthe Hindi medium and found it very difficult to keep pacewith the computer engineering syllabus as the medium ofinstruction was English at the college level. Thiseventually propelled him into developing the Hindisoftware.
The Hindi software package has a set of four differentsoftwares. These include the Explorer/Web browser,English to Hindi or viceversa digital dictionary, the globalword translator and saral Editor. The web browser (HindiExplorer) is packed with all the functions of InternetExplorer. In addition, it also has extra functions such asopening multiple files, saving files, searching files and hasslides, auto history viewers, popup blockers, and builtindigital dictionary. The global word translator that comeswith his software is an important translator since it canwork within any application of Windows (online or offline). The browser can run on all Windows operating systemsright from 95, 98, 2000 to ME, NT and Windows XP.
The other important application software developed byMr. Dangi is English to Hindi or viceversa digitaldictionary, which currently supports 20,320 words andallows users to add more words to suit theirrequirements. This dictionary enables users to search forsynonyms either in English or Hindi within seconds.
Mr. Dangi claims that he was already working on his Hindisoftware when the Microsoft Chief, Bill Gates, had saidduring his India visit a few years ago that this country hasenormous potential in the IT field. Two young lawyers,Rahul Mathur & Sidhanshu Prakash, are helping him onthe copyright front.
Mr. Dangi wants to develop this software in other regionallanguages and he is also planning to make a separateoperating system in Hindi and other regional languages.
