Styles & Formatting Concepts• Themes

– Affect color, font, & effects on shapes (e.g. chart)– Accent 1, 2, 3; Light & Dark 1, 2; Hyperlink; etc

• Cell Styles– A collection of formatting– Can reference a theme, or– Can be direct, unchanging formatting

• Table & PivotTable Styles– Tables have 13 regions that can be formatted (header row, totals row)– PivotTables have an additional 15 areas– All built-in styles reference themes– Custom styles can reference themes, or not

• Direct Formatting– Color & Font choices can reference a theme, or not– Includes borders, number formats, etc

Style & Formatting Example

• Left set of numbers have direct & themed formatting• Table has a table style applied• PivotTable has a table style applied

Vary The Theme

• Since all colors are specified as ‘theme’ colors, they change when a different theme is selected

• Cells with non-theme colors specified wouldn’t change color with theme changes.
