Prerequisites

• One database/file server. • One webserver. • The webserver is hooked up to a cloud load

balancer with health checks enabled.

Creating the AutoScaler

• Give it an appropriate name.

• Select the AutoScaler image.

• Reduce flavor to 512 standard.

• Create the server.

• The server may take a couple of minutes to boot.

• Once completed, go to the public IP address of the AutoScaler.

Registering the AutoScaler

• Fill out the product registration.

• Select your password. • Select the region where

the AutoScaler is provisioned.

API credentials

• In order to provision or decommission spot instances, LiquiD AutoScaler needs access to your interoute VDC API details.

• The API key can be obtained from your Rackspace account settings page.

• Copy the key and paste it in the AutoScaler window.

AutoScaler Main Settings

• If you have multiple load balancers, select the relevant one.

• Select the image that you want the spot instances to use.

• Select the flavor size that matches the image we chose.

• Set the maximum and minimum number of spot instances according to your needs.

Start the AutoScaler

• If you are satisfied with the settings, click on start.

• Should the user experience drop, the AutoScaler will automatically spin up a new spot instance ensuring a smooth experience for the web visitors.
