Step 1: On your Android phone, go to Settings > Application > WhatsApp and click “Uninstall” to uninstall WhatsApp Messenger.

Step 3: WhatsApp Messenger will detect and find your chat backup. Tap on “Restore” and your missing chat history less than 7 days will be back.

Option 2: Recover WhatsApp Messages from Older Backup

WhatsApp allows you to create a munual backup from WhatsApp > Menu Button > Settings > Chat Settings > Back up chats.

Step 1: Navigate to the WhatsApp Database folder and decide which backup file you want to restore.

Step 2: Rename that file from “msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt8” to “msgstore.db.crypt8”.

Step 3: Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, choose “Restore” when prompted, you will be able to see your restored messages.
