How to Customize iTunes on Windows

SAFEBYTES SOFTWARE

Do you use iTunes on Windows? You will do yourself a favor if you learn how to customize iTunes on Windows. If you follow the steps we have outlined below, you will see how easy the whole process is. Some of the things you can customize include using the iTunes MiniPlayer, browsing the music library quicker, and showing or hiding the sidebar.

Browsing the Music Library Faster

You can configure the music library to browse quicker using the column browser. This will help you to find music in the library much faster. In the library, music can be found in five categories, which are Albums, Genres, Artists, Groupings, and Composers. When you select a category, the list becomes narrow and only displays the songs that match your choice. To do this, follow the steps outlined below.

1. On the top left, look for the pop-up menu and select Music.

2. You will see a row with Library, For You, Browse, Radio, and Store. Here select Library and click.

3. There is a sidebar on the left from which you can select songs.

4. Select the columns that you would like to have on the display by choosing View > Column Browser > Show Column Browser.

5. When using the column browser, the number of columns you select depends on how many you want.

6. If you want to deploy the column browser, you select View > Column Browser > Hide Column Browser.

Using the iTunes MiniPlayer The advantage of the iTunes MiniPlayer is that it does not take a lot of space on the screen of your computer, but it will still allow you to search for songs, adjust your volume, and select the song that you want to play next, and so on. To customize the MiniPlayer, follow these steps.

1. On the MiniPlayer, select View and then Select MiniPlayer.

2. If your aim is to change the list of the upcoming songs, use the Up Next button.

3. You can keep the MiniPlayer in the desktop's foreground by selecting Edit and then going to Preferences and choosing "Keep MiniPlayer on top of all other windows."

Hiding and Showing a Sidebar The sidebar becomes visible by default. If you do not want it, you have the ability to hide it. You will need to remember that you will not be able to access the playlists when the sidebar is not visible. The sidebar can be managed by going to View and then selecting either Hide Sidebar or Show Sidebar.

Showing the iTunes Menu On Windows 7 or 8

On both Windows 7 and 8, the iTunes menu comes hidden by default. You can choose to either show the menu on a temporary or permanent basis by doing the following.

1. To show the menu temporarily, you can press on the Alt Key. When you open iTunes again, the menus will be hidden.

2. To show menus each time you open iTunes, go to the iTunes window in the left corner and select Show Menu Bar. To hide them, go to the same window and select Hide Menu Bar.

Always remember that if you want to do any downloads of music from the internet, you will need to have a computer that is properly protected by a software system such as Total System Care from SafeBytes. It will scan every song you play on your computer to ensure that it does not pose a risk.
