The music video is a fun and interesting way for the artist to advertise their new albums.• They will sometimes release their songs through their websites or often on social

media platforms, such as YouTube which everyone can access. There are also some online streaming sites where artists release their music and videos for a price, such as TIDAL. Many artists (such as Kanye West for his music video famous and Nicki Minaj and Beyonce for their video feeling myself) choose this option first to earn more profits to increase the publicity

video is split into one of 3 categories: narrative, concept or performance.

What is a narrative video?• A narrative video is a music video that will have a story line. For

example Sam Smith – I’m not the only one. This video has a story line of a girl finding out that she has been cheated on and the music video follows her story and her actions when she finds out. Many narrative videos (like this one) story line also links to the lyrics of the song.

What is a concept video?• A concept video is a style of video that is unusual which usually is

based around one idea. They are also usually heavily edited in high quality techniques. An example of a music video like this is Coldplay – Up and Up. This music video includes extremely good editing techniques to make this unusual idea look realistic.

What is a performance video?• The style of a performance video involves the artist being the main

focus of the video and shows them performing the song making the audience feel as though the song is coming alive. For example Adele – Send my love (To your new lover). Although this video mainly consists of Adele using lip sync techniques to perform the video it uses some concept editing to make it more interesting and viewable to the audience.
