InstitutionVIBE is a music and entertainment magazine founded by producer Quincy jones that is based in New York city.Quincy jones launched VIBE in 1993, in partnership with time Inc. Originally, the publication had been called volume before co-founding editor, Scott Poulson gave it the name VIBE.VIBE shut down there doors in 2009 due to the recession but has been taken over by inter-media partners.

Institutions- InterMedia Partners

InterMedia Partners is a private equity business which helps and takes over businesses which are struggling to continue or have fallen into recession. InterMedia is currently the institution of VIBE and they have been since they took over their current recession in 2009. They have helped the business get up from the ground and into the sky. InterMedia partners was founded in 1988 by Leo Hindery. The company have invested in cable television, broadcast television, print, programming and broadband opportunities. This successful company is currently worth 1 billion dollars.

AudienceVIBE magazines target audience is predominantly young urban followers of hip hop culture, passionate about music and artists.The celebrities on the front of the magazine are usually very famous as it is a very popular magazine. The audience tends to me teenagers/ young adults who love the hip hop genre and enjoy reading all about the artists.

AudienceVIBE magazine is produced every month. As of June 30, 2012, It has a total circulation of 301,408 , of which 202,439 was paid, and 98,504 was non paid.VIBE magazine attracts over 19 million customers per monthly intake.

GenreVibe magazine has an R&B and Hip-Hop genre. The magazine shows consistency throughout all their issues. Their target audience are males and females as the colours they use are unisex and the models that advertise appeal to both genders. Young urban followers will be interested in the type of magazine VIBE has produced. This allows VIBE to target a bigger audience which will make more sales for them. People who enjoy R&B and Hip-Hop music will be most likely to purchase the magazine as this is their chosen taste of music.

RepresentationThe cover star/s on the ‘Vibe’ music magazine contents pages are usually represented in a clear defined cultured way in which is true to the music magazine ‘vibe’. Some words used such as ‘hit’ and ‘real’ can show that this magazine is represented for dedicated music fans. The artists stated on the front cover of the magazine suggest that the magazine is predominantly about the R&B and Hip-Hop genre of music, which will therefore attract more mainstream music fans. The majority of the artists mentioned are more American based giving VIBE magazine a strong American identity.
