Here, she “sees the signs of a lifetime” with this person; believing that she very well could spend the rest of her life with her lover.
The notion of complete devotion and love scares her, and, despite her true feelings, she says goodbye to her lover.
The artist doubts the concept of “love”, and, having been heartbroken before, is apprehensive when entering into this new relationship, as the whole idea of courtship just may not be right for her
The artist hides her true romantic feelings in the “message” by deleting the “kisses” (xxx) at the end of it. This is challenged by the song’s title which urges that she reveal her affections and “Don’t Delete the Kisses”.
