Title – This is why the target audience buy this magazine for example the title in the magazine ‘Total Film’ clearly describes what the magazine is about. Apart from that if the title is shown boldly it help the buyer know what magazine it is just from looking at it.

Background – The background helps the main image stand out from all the other images either small or big. Backgrounds usually go with the theme of what movie the main character is from, for example in this case we can clearly see Katniss from the Hunger Games with the background being one of the symbols from that movie and apart from that showing a contrast of fire (Red and Yellow) with colours such as black (her jacket).

Main Image – This makes it clear to the audience what the magazine shall be based on. For example in this case its based on the hunger games were we can see Katniss is the main image from the whole magazine. What attracts the audience is the main character since the individual that could be a huge fan which is seeing the magazine cover, is more likely to buy it because she/he knows that they are in that film and the size is fundamental so it doesn’t sink in just like the Secondary Images.

Headline – Headlines are almost as big as the name of the magazine, this is to inform the audience about what the magazine is based on (apart from what the main image shows). The title tells the audience if the certain movie which is shown – The Hunger Games – more information about the film, interviews with the actors, interviews with the directors and film writers. The reader will expect almost a clear idea of what the information inside will be when just reading the headline.

Helpful Tips – This helpful tips are usually found near the end pages but to some movie fanatics which are starting out to expore the movie world in this case start filming films or short movie, are more likely to buy a magazine which contains tips on how to improve either on filming, lighting or even how to make a film on a cheap budget.

Secondary Images – The secondary images are usually around and smaller than the main image, this is so the attention of the main image isn’t mixed up with them.

Date - The date shows when the magazine was released and which edition it is, so the audience doesn’t confuse when it came out.

Website- The website link will be written near the date and will take you to the main website and even inform you more in detail of what's in that month’s news article.

Cover stories – The cover stories are used to give an idea of what else is going around the film industry apart from just the main headline which is specifically of the movie which is being advertised.

Quotes- This just tells the audience of that a director, actors, or writer what they said about the film which is being advertised.

Price- Shows the cost of the magazine, it located near the barcode to inform the buyer of the price.

Barcode- Where the shopkeeper scans the code in order to keep up to date with what more the shop has to order, also the product number is there in order to check online to see specifically what product its about.

My Decision

I decided that I would chose Total Film because I feel that even though both are similar ‘Total Film’ I feel is more known, and is sometimes recommended by the BFI therefore this will make the audience more likely to read this

magazine (film fanatics).
