Little Shop of Stories! Huge thank you to Kimberly and Lindsay (pictured) at Little Shop of

Stories for donating a $25 gift card #ForTheKids. This will be used

as a donation incentive and will be given away! Their store is located

in Decatur and it was definitely a nice little place to visit! When we

walked in on a Thursday evening we heard a story being read to a

group of small children which sets the perfect atmosphere. This was

no ordinary bookstore. The whole shop was filled with wonder as

several books were displayed along the walls ranging from children’s

books up to adults as well.

Team Stats Already we have raised a total of

$390! And we have 14 members!

Welcome to our new members!

You Just Got

Served!

The Extra Life Atlanta Guild hosted a Mario Tennis Tournament at Joystick Gamebar. I have never played the N64 version but I was pretty good at the Gamecube version so I thought, “Sure I’ll enter.” Myself, along with CJ, Sandi, and Nathan, all entered in for the tournament with our fellow guild mates.

The tournament went really well in my opinion. We had about 16 people participate in a single elimination style tournament. After a couple rounds I was warmed up and getting really good at it. My main man was Paratroopa. And in those few rounds I started to feel something that I have not felt in years, the N64 thumb pain. Man that brought back memories of hours on the N64

I went in with no real Intentions on winning. I figured I would give it my all and who knows, maybe I will make it to the finals. Well….

I guess you can say the champ will be returning one day!

Joystick Gamebar was a fun experience and definitely worth going back.

Joystick Gamebar

Right off Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta is an interesting little bar called Joystick Game-

bar. It is exactly what you might think it is. Upon first walking in you will see what all bars

might have, a bar, but also something else lines up the walls at attention that quickly

catches your eye. To us gamers this is something that we don’t see that often and to the

old gamers something you haven’t seen in years. These are, retro arcade and pinball

machines. It was like walking into an arcade again, but with beer!

They have a huge variety of games from Donkey Kong to Galaga and TMNT: Turtles in

Time to Rampage! Large TVs also displayed the high scores that have been achieved

by these arcade cabinets. Also for this day all quarters are being donated to the Chil-

dren’s Healthcare of Atlanta!

The food here was nothing like I have ever had before. I tried the pork fried rice and the

flavors were so unique and well put together. The rice felt like it was literally deep fried

and gave it a distinct texture.

Off to the side was a lounge room with sofas and in the center housed a TV with an N64

plugged in. I felt like I just walked into my living room from when I was a kid seeing that

N64 hooked up. The lounge was very cozy and was a great place to relax with some old

friends and made new friends as well from our Extra Life Atlanta Guild.
