Evaluation question 4

• For my magazine ‘Chanter,’ I have selected a niche market to aim it at. I have chosen to aim at 16-24 year olds. This is because this is quite a small niche and therefore I am able to appeal to this age group more carefully.

• According to an article on ‘http://news.stanford.edu’ Pop music is at the core of youth subcultures. Pop music is very popular among the 16-24 year old age range. This fits in well with my genre of magazine as it is based around pop music.

• I made a questionnaire and emailed it to my focus group that were similar age to my target audience. The people that were similar age were 16-20 years old. Everyone apart from one boy said that they would be very likely to read this magazine, I then asked 4 30-38 year olds and they said that they would probably not read the magazine.

• My magazine would be aimed at the lifestyle category of ‘mainstreamers.’ This is because the genre of my magazine is pop and they are most likely to read the magazine and listen to pop music. Because these pop artists songs featured in the magazine will be popular, they may be turned into remixes and this may appeal to other genre listeners such as indie, who may also then want to purchase the magazine.
