GROUP OF TEENAGERS

Group of teenagers are usually the main characters in the movie. In most movies, they are killer one by one by the killer/monster. There are specific type of characters in this group however the main characters are the two girls (The Final Girl and The Sexually Active Girl)

MONSTERSIn slasher movies, a ‘monster’ usually wears a mask to cover his face and protect his identity. This is the main fearful thing to the audience as it makes them scared of the unknown character and who they may . The monster usually transforms into a killer after

suffering in his/hers childhood making them want to explore a new lifestyle and fight for their own justice. The killer usually uses a

knife as a weapon to kill others. However other weapons are also used in slasher movies. For example in ‘Texas chainsaw massacre’ there is a chainsaw used. In most cases, there is a reason why the monster is trying to kill the teenagers, however not in all movies

there is a explanation why,

FINAL GIRL

In all slasher movies, we always see a ‘final girl.’ This is a person who is the only one to survive. The person is usually a young and innocent girl. The girl is left at the end, to defeat a villain. She has dark brown hair and a indistinct name. She is usually very different from her friends, and seen as quite boring. The main feature of the

final girl is usually the fact that she is a virgin.

SEXUALLY ACTIVE GIRL

In each slasher, we usually have a sexually active girl, which is a part of the group of friends. She usually dies right after or during

being sexually active next to her onscreen boyfriend. She is seen to be totally opposite to the final girl.

LOCATION

The location which we usually see in a slasher movie is a suburban location which is isolated from the rest of the world. It is usually a deserted house near a forest/woods. By doing this, the audience

knows that the people in the movie are not safe.
