Tells the audience straight away that the album uses bad language, suggesting rebellion, which you would automatically assume with Rihanna and she is renowned for her bad behaviour

The smoke and the tattoo’s both link in with the idea of rebellious

Rihanna’s own logo which she uses on her albums, clothing line and perfumes. Allows the audience to recognise who the artist is

Natural / minimal make-up, linking in with the black and white theme. The black and white theme contradicts the typical pop album cover which consists of bright colours

Name of the album, written in simple font in block capitals. No real focus on the album name

Main focus of the album is Rihanna herself, with an image of her covering the whole cover, suggesting the songs in the album are about her and what she has been through

Theme is carried on with black and white and the text looking like it’s from a newspaper article. Also using different images of her in the same outfit

These images of Rihanna is of her posing quite provocatively, with revealing clothing. It links in with some of the songs on her album such as ‘S&M’ and ‘Cockiness’
