Gerard has been a practitioner in Capital Markets working with many fortune 500 companies advising them in the management of their complex financial and investment risk. He is currently a member of an Investment Committee for a Canadian University and manages a private equity portfolio. Gerard has both served on the board of an Exempt Market Dealer and a TSX.V company. Through Gerard’s roles as Chairperson of The Board, Maple Leaf Angels Corporation, Member, Small and Medium Enterprise Committee of The Ontario Securities Commission, Entrepreneur in Residence at Incubes (an internet business accelerator), and Advisor to Growth Companies through Jaguar Capital, he has built a solid reputation as a “Thought Leader” and provider of practical and usable governance and structuring advice for entrepreneurs. He frequently speaks on subjects related to Governance, Financial Structuring, Entrepreneurialism, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Prior to founding Jaguar Capital, Gerard spent 32 years in Capital Markets. Prior to moving to Toronto, Gerard managed Scotiabank’s Foreign Exchange and Money Market business for Atlantic Canada. While in the Capital Markets Division of Scotia Capital, Gerard consulted for market leading corporations in Canada and United States specializing in Financial Risk Management including interest rates and derivatives.

Gerard is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and was awarded their Gold Medal for Academic Excellence. Gerard is a member and an Institute-certified Director of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a graduate of University of Toronto’s Directors Education Program. Gerard has held senior volunteer leadership roles with the Financial Markets Association of Canada and the Treasury Management Association of Canada.

Gerard has a history of serving youth and educational charities through organizations such as Developing Scholars as Board Director – providing scholarships for students in Guatemala, Duke of Edinburgh Awards – Founding Partner, Charter for Business, Army Cadet League of Canada – Founder of Community Scholarship Program and Board Director, Gonzaga High School – Live Theatre and Arts Program, and North York Hospital Foundation – Co-Chair Foundation Golf Committee. His passion and work with youth earned Gerard The Queens Golden Jubilee Medal and various other awards.

Gerard and Mary reside in Toronto and Blue Mountain where they spend their time skiing, biking, playing tennis, and golfing. They have four grown children Sue, Charles, Andrew & Brian.
