VA Using Record Retrieval Services to make Processes Easier
• Good news for all veterans out there, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) has released word that it will work with a private contractor to hasten the process of claims decisions. These private contractors will deal with record retrieval services for the VA and their clientele. This will also significantly cut the average time needed to obtain medical records from private physicians.
• This update aims to not only make the process faster but also ensures that there are less errors in the process. According to the VA, their aim is to process all claims within a span of 125 days with a 98% accuracy by this year.
• The VA takes pride in the fact that their hunt for innovations will speed up, improve, and simplify VA services and that is why they are doing their best to test each and every innovation presented to them.
• "We are committed to harnessing the best technology and the brightest minds in the government and private sector to ensure veterans receive the benefits they have earned," According to a high official of the VA.
An Innovation in Record Retrieval Services
• Record retrieval services are not new thing. As a matter of fact, it has gained popularity for some time now but not everybody feels comfortable with it. The fact that the VA is welcoming the idea of Record Retrieval Services into their service, it makes people think that it’s something that everybody can use.
• For this project, the VA will be assisted by the private contractor in collecting healthcare records. This is really important for veterans mostly because private health records are very important for making benefit claims. In the new process, the private contractor will retrieve the record from their private healthcare provider, they will then scan these records into a digital format, and then send the material to the VA through a secured transmission.
• This innovation was brought about by an increase in the disability compensation claims. Still, the VA points out that this is not a 100% automated process as veterans are still needed to sign documents that approve the release of their medical records to the VA from private healthcare providers through record retrieval services providers.
