Parkway Business Solutions History

Founded in 1989 by Kathy Snelson, Snelson Services began to offer business management and accounting consulting services to “small business” throughout Ventura County. Kathy recognizing the opportunity for her clients to utilize accounting software to improve the quality and “real-time” accuracy of their business financials hired Michael Snelson in 2001 to spearhead the new endeavor.

From an early age, Michael trained in the generally accepted accounting principles and exhibited an exceptional ability to comprehend both the electronic and ledger based worlds of accounting. Michael shared Kathy’s vision for a better bookkeeping service and together they worked to make their dream become reality.

In 2005, Michael accepted an opportunity with Martin, Ketterling, & Associates as a certified tax preparer for both personal and business returns. Through his combined experience as a full charge bookkeeper and a certified tax prepared, Mike worked with Kathy to create what are now the foundations of Parkway Business Solutions.

Meet the Partners: Michael SnelsonMichael Snelson ( CEO), Founder of Parkway Business Solutions, has been an interactive part of the local community since

1990. As an experienced accountant and tax professional, specializing in the implementation and optimization of current technologies, Mike helps local and remote business owners gain structure and efficiency in their day-to-day accounting practices. His unique approach has increased the accuracy and productivity for numerous clients throughout multiple industries. Mikes experience within accounting started years before the creation of his own company, making him a master of his trade. Previously as CFO of a professional business and accounting consultation firm, he shared his specialization in day-to-day efficiency through the implementation of new technology and procedures to increase profits for clients. As a Certified Tax Preparer for six years, completing both personal and business filings, Mike recognized a true need by small business owners for an honest and ethical individual that believed in their ability to obtain the “American Dream.” Still to this day, he chooses his clients by his moral and ethical code to ensure he provides the best service not only for his clients, but also for his local community.

Meet the Partners: Matthew FultonMatthew Fulton (Senior Accountant), earned his Bachelors degree from UCSB in Business Economics with an emphasis in

Accounting. While working his way through college, Matthew assisted in the management of a well respected local business, Audio Experts. This unique opportunity to combine his university education with real world experience provided Matthew a greater understanding of how the economy directly effected the small business owner.

In late 2006, Matthew took over management of Breakers Mobile Electronic (Oxnard, CA) where he remained till late 2012. During his first year of control (2007), his team increased overall sales by 7% and substantially improved the gross profit at year end.

After 14 years of experience within the mobile electronics industry, Matthew was faced with his greatest and most rewarding challenge, managing a luxury item business through a national recession. It was during these difficult years that his prior experience was really put to the test and most valuable insights were gained. Financial analysis of weekly, monthly, and annual business performance for future forecasting modules. Reducing inventory and payroll to maintainable levels to maximize cash flow. Created new commission structures that benefited both the company and the employees Negotiating different business contracts including: building leases, credit card processing, purchasing terms, and business

In 2008, Matthew was asked to Join a non profit organization MERA, where he quickly became a member of the Board of Directors and Head of their Educational Committee. During his time with MERA, Matthew published multiple articles for industry publications and was requested as guest speaker for various organizations focused on the improvement of business profitability.

During 2013 Michael and Matthew had the opportunity to meet and discuss the future vision of Parkway Business Solutions. Together they quickly started to collaborate towards the mutual goal of providing “small business” owners with all their bookkeeping and accounting needs including payroll with an emphasis on customer service.
