The Vanilla Project was initiated to standardize on common process and practice across multiple business units. There is also a project governance to stay as OOTB as feasible in an effort to reduce customizations and related overhead moving forward.

– Keep system overhead low and more cohesive information sharing across Business Units. – Classification assists in finding part-based categorization and characteristics. This prevents

creation of duplicate data and helps save effort and time. – One well integrated system with required information to help make better decisions when

implementing Change. – Improved Business Rules defined to help prevent user errors when releasing Change. – Maintaining BOM Configuration on every release helps understand the difference between

what is being requested and what can be analyzed retrospectively when issues are encountered.
