• TRW has multiple business units that leverage various customized instances of PLM solutions. The Vanilla Project was initiated to standardize on common process and practice across multiple business units. There is also a project governance to stay as OOTB as feasible in an effort to reduce customizations and related overhead moving forward.
– Keep system overhead low and more cohesive information sharing across Business Units. – Classification assists in finding part-based categorization and characteristics. This prevents
creation of duplicate data and helps save effort and time. – One well integrated system with required information to help make better decisions when
implementing Change. – Improved Business Rules defined to help prevent user errors when releasing Change. – Maintaining BOM Configuration on every release helps understand the difference between
what is being requested and what can be analyzed retrospectively when issues are encountered.
