So What Are Humates???

• Humates – the new buzz word• Humates – what nature has provided

that all plant life on earth need to thrive• Humates – fossilized plant and animal

matter• Humates – a conglomeration of

concentrated vitamins, minerals, amino acids, humic acids, fulvic acids, macro and micro-nutrients

• Humates – what every grower needs to grow healthy, vibrant, nutritious plants 3

Page 4: World Of Humates

So What Are Humates????

Specifically….Humates are deposits of substances from the biological and chemical breakdown of animal and plant life over a time span of a few million years.

4

In short….Humates are fossilized plants and animals mixed with rock and soil compounds. Humates are super concentrated with rich nutrients that synergistically work with the air, water and soil for optimal plant feeding.

Page 5: World Of Humates

What Do Humates Do?Accelerates seed germination

Reduces transplant shock

Increases oxygen to the soil, natural aeration

Increases water retention

Develops stronger root systems

Stimulates plant’s immune system

Increases nutrient uptake and absorption

Increases photosynthesis process

Restores soil to a healthy stateIncreases harvest yield, nutrient value and flavor 5

How Do Humates Work?

6

We know that this mixture of concentrated nutrients and complex compounds called Humates stimulates plant growth and development in all stages of plant life. “How?” is not a simple answer. Unlike using single chemical application for a single result, scientific studies have shown that the beneficial effect of Humates involves multiple factors that independently and synergistically work toward a variety of outcomes.

Page 7: World Of Humates

How Do Humates Work?

The chemistry of Humates is so complex, science has yet to break it down. It is a complex state of matter structured into fragments of DNA and RNA. The elements of the Humates combined with the elements of the surrounding environment, with oxygen, with water, with soil, with microbes, all have a synergistic effect to bring about effective, harmonious and oftentimes immediate results in plant growth. We do know it works. And we do know Humates are made up of compounds and materials that plant life on earth absolutely needs for growth, development, and vitality. 7

Page 8: World Of Humates

So Where Do Humates Come From?

8

In prehistoric time periods, a vast amount of vegetation and animal residue decomposed into mountains over millions of years. This material, composed of animal life, plant life, rock, soil, organic matter, though totally decomposed, is alive with billions of healthy enzymes, organisms, nutrients, and soil-type bacteria. The Wasatch Range of Utah is one of these formations.

This nutrient rich area of the Wasatch Range became known to the local farmers and ranchers as “Fertilizer Mountain”, because of the beneficial properties in using the Humates for growing plants.

Page 9: World Of Humates

Our Humates & The Mountain

9

The Humates in our Happy Plant tablets come from our own mine in the Wasatch Mountain Range, a deposit of virgin organic humates embedded in a clay based rock and mineral state that is the product of well over 4 million years of geologic activity. Numerous rivers and snow melt exit the mountain near the mine that lend to the pristine

composition of the fossilized plant and animal matter mixed with mineral-rock formations. Howard Turrel was introduced to Humates and this mountain range in 1967.

Page 10: World Of Humates

Ferto Mountain

10

In 1968, Howard bought Ferto Mountain. Teaming up with renouned chemist,Dr. T.L. Senn, the research began. A sugar beet factory was converted into a research lab and fertilizer factory. Humates were extracted and trucked down the mountain.

That Was Then…

21

It was still the chemical age.

Nobody knew what Humates were.

“Organic” was a word that chemists used.

“Organic” and “Green” were catch phrases for environmentalists, hippies and tree huggers.

The market demand for an organic based fertilizer was not there.

Our organic Humate based product was 20 years ahead of its time.

Though research continued, sales were suspended in 1989.

Page 22: World Of Humates

This Is Now…

22

Fast forward to 2006.

Consumers are much more savvy and knowledgeable.Eating healthier, using less chemicals and taking care of the planet are in the forefront and in demand.

“Green” is not just a fad, it is becoming a necessity.

Everybody and every business (even Walmart) is “Going Green”.

And like every idea whose time has come, Howard Turrel knew it was time to bring the Humate based product back to the consumer:

To help restore the soil To help grow healthier plants To help the world “Go Green”

The mine in Utah was re-opened.Research began at the new research center near Vinita Oklahoma. The corporate offices at Grove Oklahoma started getting the word out.

• The object of Root-Zone feeding is to create a complete feeding zone, in and around the plant’s roots.

• As the tablets slowly break down, the soil immediately surrounding the plant is fed with 70+nutrients, which both feed the plant and improve the soil structure.

What are Humates

Fossilized plant and animal life broken down over millions of years

Compounds and concentrated nutrient materials

Contain a mixture of organic acids, including humic acids, fulvic acids macromolecules of amino acids, amino sugars and peptides

Works extremely well as a base for soil conditioners, fertilizers and plant food.

Page 38: World Of Humates

History of Humates

Evidence that humates were used by the Anaszi Indians, the Mayans and other early North American Indian cultures

1770’s Pennsylvania Amish and Mennonites and German immigrants used humate materials on farm land that had been left depleted by English farmers who moved west to find more fertile soil.

Page 39: World Of Humates

The increased need to remineralize, and replenish,

our depleted soils is resulting in an increased interest and a return to

humate use for sustainable agriculture and growing

programs.

high-tech tablets can

be used anywhere in the world, in any climate, soil or crop; indoors or

out.

Page 41: World Of Humates

Happy Plant , an organic humate base

plant food tablet, coupled with our root zone feeding “no-till”

practice of agriculture, has numerous “green”

benefits

Page 42: World Of Humates

Happy Plant benefits

Reduces water requirements by up to 65%, equivalent to 2” to 3” of rain on the average crop, due to increased moisture holding capacity

Eliminates erosion through No-till application

Feeds the plants directly, within the root zone, making a more efficient use of the nutrients

Speeds up the nutrient availability to the plant

Creates an organically enhanced environment within the root zone, encouraging soil building beneficial microbes and earthworms to return

Page 43: World Of Humates

Happy Plant benefits Eliminates nutrient dissipation into the air Eliminates river/lake contamination from

excessive nutrient runoff Promotes synergism rather than

inefficiency inherent in chemical NPK fertilizers.

Increases crop production, nutrient value, flavor and sugar content

The humate based tablets have an indefinite shelf life, and will not lose their potency

The humate based tablets, along with the no-till root zone feeding program, can be utilized successfully anywhere in the world

Page 44: World Of Humates

The object of Root-Zone feeding is to create a complete feeding zone, in and around the plant’s roots.

As the tablets slowly break down, the soil immediately surrounding the plant is fed with 70+nutrients, which both feed the plant and improve the soil structure.

Organic Feeding Zone

Page 45: World Of Humates

Root Zone Feeding is recommended for house

plants, gardens, vegetables, trees, shrubs, flower boxes, flower gardens and can be

used in commercial orchards, tree farms and
