Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, Rosé Coteaux du Languedoc, France, 2007

This spectacular rosé bottling celebrates the merging of two superstars in the world of fashion and wine: Ed Hardy, America’s most famous tattoo artist, appointed to Oakland’s Cultural Arts Commission in 2000; and designer Christian Audigier, who has rocked the world of fashion by combining rock ‘n’ roll street style and Hollywood glam.

As a most unique rosé from France’s Coteaux du Languedoc region near the Mediterranean, this wine is produced in the vineyards of Montpeyroux Estates from grapes grown by the Roquefeuil family. It is fruity and aromatic with loads of personality: lush and full-bodied on the palate with bountiful berry notes and a sleek finish. The wine can be enjoyed on its own and also pairs beautifully with seafood, chicken, cold cuts, pizza, pasta and Asian-inspired dishes.

Richard & Luba DewittMembers Since 2000

How has the Biltmore Membership enhanced your personal and professional life?

We enjoy the wine dinners and especially like the interactive lunches. We use the fitness center to work out in the morning and to take yoga classes in the evening. We also use the club and Biltmore restaurants to entertain guests.

What are some of your favorite travel destinations when you want to “get away?”

We are always searching for new interesting destinations. We have been fortunate to have been able to visit 83 countries around the world. Our recent trips include trekking silverback mountain gorillas in Uganda, visiting Bhutan and exploring Bangladesh.

Do you enjoy wine?

Since we have a home in the wine area of Bratislava, Slovakia (where Luba is from) we have been buying some excellent Slovak wines — especially Radosina Klevner, which is the only Slovak wine served at the table of the Queen of England. We are scheduling our trips there during harvest time so we can participate in the many Slovak wine festivals.

Do you have a favorite cuisine?

We enjoy seafood and are fond of Italian, French and Spanish cuisine. We are also discovering the new taste of central Europe such as modern Austrian and Hungarian cuisine.

Do you have a personal interest that plays a significant role in your life?

Luba has been a lifelong opera lover and supporter of the Florida Grand Opera. Richard unsuccessfully attempts to play golf but enjoys trying.

What would you say is your one true shared passion?

Travel! Our goal is to visit as many interesting places in the world as we can; we prefer exotic off-the-path places that are not necessarily popular tourist destinations.

What has been the most memorable experience (so far!) you have had at the Biltmore?

Over the years we have attended so many special events at the Biltmore it is hard to choose the most memorable. This year’s Valentine’s Royal-Table Champagne Gala was our most recent memorable experience.

Do you support any charitable organizations?

Luba is the immediate past president and serves on the Board of Women’s Emergency Network and serves on the Coral Cables International Affairs Coordinating Council.

Richard is on the Board of the Coral Gables Community Foundation, the Board of Trustees of the Admiral Farragut Academy and serves on the City of Coral Gables Trial Board. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, the Explorers Club in New York and The Family in San Francisco.
