Outcome-based Evaluation Logic Model Nebraska Library Commission

The goals of the One Book for Nebraska Teens Author Tour are 1) to provide visits with author Neal Shusterman and 2) to provide opportunities for book discussion and book- and visit-related activities for teens in rural Nebraska so that the youth:

• Outcome #1 - Meet and visit with a published author (Audiences throughout the nation have opportunities to experience a wide range of art forms and activities),

• Outcome #2 - Demonstrate knowledge of the craft of writing, • Outcome #3 - Demonstrate interest in reading, and • Outcome #4 - Demonstrate interest in book- or tour-related activities.

The following inputs, activities and services, outputs, and indicators have been set to assist NLC in attaining the goals and outcomes of the project:

and Services Outputs Indicators Guest author; discussion guides; activity toolkit; high school teachers, school librarians, and public librarians; NLC staff; Regional Library System directors; Youth Advisory Board members; NLC cash funding of $3,300; Nebraska Humanities Council grant of $5,300

Activities: Coordinate author tour; schedule site visits for youth; manage collaboration of NLC with schools and public libraries; lend book kits and audio books; host web resource with discussion guides and activity toolkit. Services: Author visits.

1 author involved; 1 author tour completed; 18 site visits completed; 1,200 youth in attendance; 200 teachers, school librarians, public librarians, and other interested adults in attendance and involved; 1,000 youth read the book; 1,000 youth participate in book discussion and/or related activities.

Outcome #1 - Number of Nebraska youth who attend the author visits; number and percent of attending youth residing in rural Nebraska; number and percent of attending youth of minority status; Outcome #2 - Number and percent of youth who can identify two technical aspects of writing; Outcome #3 - Number and percent of youth who read the related book; and Outcome #4 - Number and percent of youth who actively engage in a related book discussion or activity.
